Video here.

HILLSBORO, Ohio — A man being sentenced on drug charges escaped an Ohio courtroom, fleeing from the courthouse in dramatic fashion.

Nickolaus Garrison, 33, is still at large after escaping from police custody Tuesday afternoon and fleeing the Highland County Courthouse.

Garrison, found guilty of aggravated possession of meth, was sentenced to one year in prison and fines up to $2,500.

But moments after his sentencing, he fled from the courtroom with several officers in pursuit.

KEYWORDS:
Good effort by the deputy who dove over the stair railing and slid to the bottom on his back.

The last officer down the stairs is a good example of older deputies being sent to pasture as courthouse bailiffs.

I think I was watching ID yesterday. They had show on such stuff. In one segment, the judge chase two handcuffed bolters down the stairs, tackling the trailing one in the exit doorway.

The other realized he’s in handcuffs, wearing a DOC/Jail shirt after a few blocks, so he turned himself in.

The kicker was that both were appearing for misdemeanors, but the attempted escape included years of actual jail time to their eventual sentencing.

He would have faced more time had he broke the Good Samaritan Law.

Looks like they’ve caught the guy in neighboring Clinton County.

The deputy who dove over the stair railing suffered broken ribs and a minor concussion.

WOW ! I’ve been here since Aug 4, 2004 and never knew that there was such a thread as a unngh thread.

Unngh.

Between trying to catch up on this from the beginning as well as the “CUE” thread I feel like Sisyphus.

UNNGH.
