Lies are the foundation of the drug war,

Lies are the foundation of all government "social" policies.

Take the lies away and government agents are left with nothing but their unadorned appetite for power.

Show me the successful societies that tolerate legal and widespread recreational drug use.

Well, since heroin & other opiates weren't 'illegal' until 1920, and marijuana wasn't 'illegal' until 1937, I'd have to say-

WE were!

So America was known for its widespread legal and recreational drug use until 1937?

Why use Christian? Why not Muslims, Hindus, or Atheists?

1. Muslims - - Hashashins

2. Hindus - - Hookas

3. Atheists - - they don't practice Rastafarianism

But, you forgot one...

Buddhists - - Nepalese hashish

No, America was known as a land of FREEDOM where what a person ingested was their own business.

Because Mark Twain lived 1835 to 1910, and through a lot of that period (all?), "Christian" was often just a synonym for "civilized," or "Western" or -- basically "people like us."

Changing parameters mid-stream?

From Wiki

In 1885 the U.S. manufacturer Parke-Davis sold cocaine in various forms, including cigarettes, powder, and even a cocaine mixture that could be injected directly into the user’s veins with the included needle. The company promised that its cocaine products would “supply the place of food, make the coward brave, the silent eloquent and ... render the sufferer insensitive to pain.”

Don't forget that Coca Cola originally got its name because it contained cocaine.

Speaking of drugs, my favorite import beer dropped down to about $14 a case. And you can buy cheap American suds for $11 a 30 pack.

Is there a beer war going on?

And how long will beer stay good and fizzy stored in a cool basement?

(Now if a pizza war starts, you'll see one happy sergeant on the couch this football season.)

That's a single drug. That's not what I had in mind by widespread. If you thought otherwise, the majority of your FR threads wouldn't be about drugs.

Don't give me that "Drug Warrior" crap. I've seen what drugs have done to friends and some of my family. If you want to fry your brain on that crap, that's your call, but as long as I'm breathing, I will tell any, and everyone that drugs are destructive, and they have zero benefit to society, and I will do whatever it takes to keep that crap away from my kids. My kids know I won't tolerate drug use by them. I came home one day and caught my oldest son and some friends in my back yard hitting a bong, they all went to jail that day. Some of you may think that action was overly harsh, but they were warned what the concequence would be if I ever caught them.
