Here is video of Glenn Beck today with a segment debunking the crazy conspiracy theory that FEMA is operating "Concentration Camps" in the United States. I guess I have been living under a rock somewhere because I had never heard such a wacko idea. But it is apparently all over the internet and has made the rounds via email as well. This sounds a lot like the 9-11 Truthers who won't go away, claiming the U.S. Government was behind the 9-11 attacks. It seems there will always be people to perpetuate conspiracy theories.
Anyway, Beck talks with a reporter from Popular Mechanics who positively disproves the FEMA Conspiracy Theory. . . . . . (Watch Video)

FEMA is buidling a prison in Plaquemines Parris in LA that has a 600,000 s.f foot print-I know I’ve worked on the project with the design firm. He can pooh-pooh it all he wants, I’ve seen and worked on the plans. Design is done-FEMA has just not give the project the green light yet.
Why the hell would FEMA do that? Why not the BOP? And why in Louisiana?
Isn’t Plaquemines Parrish in LA under sea level as is New Orleans?
It must be an exaggerated threat.
(And yes, I do listen to Beck on the headphones whilst working late at night.)
Cheers!
I don’t know what to tell you. The SOB is HUGE.
I didn’t ask much-I was there to work with the architect on the project. Why they would put it there?-I have no idea.
These where really big conspiracies during President Bush’s term, the leftists swore up and down he would cancel the election, become a dictator, and lock them up. They have resurfaced with some Presidential directives authorizing military bases to be used for housing individuals in a ‘national emergency’..
They are a continual archetype of the controllers versus the controlled in literary mythology. There is always the plot of complete removal of freedoms in masse. Unfortunately, history has given us two examples under the National Socialists in Germany and the Gulags in Soviet Russia.
I do have reservations about the FACT of camps being built inside military bases. To house in emergency or not, it’s not comforting with this ‘regime’ in power.
So how do you know its purpose?
It seems odd they would contract with someone with the propensity to squeal on the net when there are so many military and FEMA architects that are won’t blab.
I find it ironic all these theories that sounded outgageous when Bush was in office are actually coming true under Obama. But if we were to say the same thing, we sound kooky, but it’s a fact. A not reported by MSM fact, but fact nonetheless.
Read “Foucault’s Pendulum”, it is a great novel on how these conspiracies can be self fulfilling or, more often than not, people see what they want. It could be the left, obsessed with the fiction under Bush, have gotten the idea in their mind, and are fulfilling their own prophesy. Or it could be that we have been accused so much of being part of the conspiracy, that it is a thought implanted in our own minds, thus, we see what we want or expect (Rorschach test).
Because It’s called Plaquemines Parris Prison, and I was told by the design firm that it is for FEMA. You’re assuming I’ve been contracted by FEMA-I’ve not. And “military architects” and “FEMA architects”-don’t design prisons-design firms who specialize in correctional facilities design prisons. And as far as “blabbing”-the project will be publicly bid and built so there’s nothing secret about it. (at this time information about the project is somewhat limited, but it’s out there).
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar (to quote Freud). Sometimes a regular old prison is just a prison.
How about the concentration camp underneath the Denver International Airport? Is that just for the western region?
(That conspiracy theory started twelve years ago on the net.)
I used to casually dismiss these things, but now that we have a megalomaniacal despot for a President, I don’t know....
Yup.
that’s probably it, but the plans are for a four story (elevated buildings) with about 600,000 s.f of roof area.
Good points.
