If it makes you feel any better, the Ferrari was a Kit Car, not the real thing.
It was a shame though. No CGI back then.
I was bummed when they blew up Crockett's Ferrari 365 GT Daytona Spyder on the Miami Vice TV show. It was a Kit Car as well, built by McBurnie in San Diego on a Corvette Chassis.

If it makes you feel any better for sure the wreck in FBDO was a fake kit car replica and not a real Ferrari California which collectors pay the earth for.
