As you can see, the video shows Katie Couric preparing to go on the air on the day John McCain announced Governor Palin as his running mate. It shows some tantalizing hints of Couric’s attitude toward the Governor--when talking about first Trig, then Track, Couric says “where the hell do they get these [names]?...” At that point the producer running the sound board shut off the sound because he or she didn’t want to have Couric’s disdainful and contemptuous view of Governor Palin’s children captured on even an internal CBS tape that they never expected would see the light of day. You can tell this by the “OMG!” reaction of the CBS news employees who were in the control room as Couric said that about the Governor’s kids. This video also shows Couric taking a shot at female basketball players and at Governor Palin’s hometown, one of the fastest growing areas in the country, and the fifth largest city in Alaska.

We know from the JournoList archives that the national press viewed Governor Palin as a threat to their anointed candidate whom they sought to elect with ferocity and determination. We don’t even need to see Couric’s snarky comment about Governor Palin’s children to know that CBS News and Couric were not interested in covering who Sarah Palin was or what her qualifications were, but rather in caricaturing her to influence the election in favor of their favored candidate.

it doesn’t matter how smart a person is. If you have hours of recording of someone, you can cut and edit it, to make it look bad for the person. Remember Obama’s “above my paygrade” non-answer? The media ignored that while attacking Palin’s “I read everything” answer. Its not that Obama doesn’t know, he just didn’t want to answer it. The media refuse to give Palin the benefit of the doubt and instantly assumes that she doesn’t know

Yeah, that's right. And culturally speaking, Alaska is almost a foreign country, with an odd fusion of modern U.S., Scandinavian, Russian, Native American, and early 20th century frontier cultural traits.

Actually, the “problem” Sarah had in the interview was her reluctance to name specific papers she read. It certainly came off as a slap at Sarah intimating A;laska was so far off the beaten track the only mags, newspapers were “Moose Today”.
It was simply Couric’s passive aggressive insult and why Sarah was hesitant to answer. Sarah now knows how evil the media is and is running circles around them.
Ah yes. And we can see where Sarah’s ratings are..as opposed to Ms. Couric’s.

In her book, Governor Palin said the reason she gave that answer about what she reads is that Katie had already pissed her off with those stupid gotcha questions and she had gotten her back up by then and didn’t want to answer anymore stupid questions. She said she shouldn’t have let Katie get to her but she was set up by one of the staff that the McCain camp had furnished for her. It was supposed to have been a 30 minute interview and it wound up to be several hours.
Yeah, like Sasha and Mahalia or Mahlia.
