Lessons in civility

I've always liked Anderson Cooper. I think he's pretty fair for a CNN anchor and he can be funny. In spite of this I rarely watch his show-Anderson Cooper 360-except for last night. Last night something told me to watch, call it serendipity, call it a total lack of anything interesting to watch on the history channel, whatever, I watched and now Anderson is like my all time favorite CNN anchor.

In his Keeping Them Honest segment last night Cooper ripped Representative Steven Cohen (D- Tennessee) a new one in front of a substantial national audience. (see above video) I'm glad this wasn't a fight or a guy in a striped shirt would have stepped in and stopped it just as it was getting good. By the time Cohen made a crucial mistake( I of course mean aside from the mistake of granting the interview), insinuating that the KKK wasn't, you know, that bad when it first started, I was thinking that if this guy keeps digging he's going to surface around Beijing.

I can see it now, a bunch of Chinese kids playing soccer in a field when all of a sudden this scary, rather dim looking American pokes his head out of the ground. Does this mean six more weeks of utter stupidity? The kids run home screaming.

What I get from this interview is that Republicans aren't really NAZIS, except they lie about Obamacare. If Stevo's thinking is representative of mainstream Democrats, they sure have evolved on the whole lie issue since Bill Clinton's time. Back then everybody lied, now it's just Goebbels and Boehner.

Cohen's probably too stupid to realize this but the NAZIS were not opposed to Germany's universal health care coverage(in existence since 1883 ), it's just that they added euthanasia services to the program. It bent the cost curve. Remind me to send Cohen a copy of The Road to Serfdom.

My other take away from the interview is that the Tea party is like the KKK, but not in a bad way.

I'm trying to be more civil lately, have you noticed? I want to say for the record that I don't think Steve Cohen is like Goebbels, Joseph Goebbels was too smart to make that comparison. Cohen is more like Rudolph Hess, now if we can just get Cohen to parachute into Scotland the way Hess did.

I guess Cohen wasn't listening when President Obama, who like Hitler is an excellent public speaker and can mesmerize an audience with the shear power of his voice, told us all to settle down and play nice so no one else gets shot. I sure hope the President calls him today and gives him a stern warning, talk like Cohen's could wound you know.

It has occurred to me for a while that the conservatives and especially the Tea Party movement have taken the place of Jews of 1930s Germany during the rise of the radical National Socialist Party and their charismatic oratorial leader hitler pledging fundamental transformation of their Deutschland! The Conservatives and the Tea Party Movement have become the perfect and only scapegoat for all the modern day American Socialist Party’s failures and venomous hatreds and ruinous schemes for the country. And these same American Socialists are striving, just as their Nazi counterpart did with theirs, to tear this country apart.

Thanks! That was an excellent comment.

They're more predictable than odd broken clocks.
