Some Thoughts on the Conservative Ideology
The Constitution Club ^ | 05-23-11 | Dave

Conservatism is a thinking mans ideology. It requires understanding and wisdom, research and knowledge, and the ability and willingness to judge right from wrong. It requires a moral compass, a fortitude for righteousness, and above all a love of liberty. To be a true conservative the value of the individual must be nourished and a fierce independence cultivated that can withstand the petty criticisms, persecutions and mockeries of those who have yet to see the light and embrace the truth. The conservative ideology cannot be separated from logic or from common sense.

To me being a political blogger and commentator is less a hobby than a civic duty. It is my job to help the sheep think, and therefore not be sheep anymore.

The conservative ideology is nothing to be ashamed of and it is important to point to the truth. There should be no shame in righteousness and living correctly. There is no shame in truth. People increasingly live in a culture where one’s conservative belief system can lead to social alienation, workplace isolation, and even job loss. Certain professions are now completely dominated, and ruthlessly policed, by the pathetic peddlers of a discredited and disgraceful ideology. I constantly find myself in a position of reassuring people who are inclined toward the conservative persuasion that it is “OK” to be a conservative. I have to remind them that it is an honor to hold firm and live the lifestyle of a conservative. Popular culture may sneer at such ideas as morals and values, sexual restraint and personal responsibility, at patriotism and good citizenship, and at honesty, decency and respect. Those are the failings of liberalism, they should not be ours. Conservatives should know what are the right things to practice as well as to preach.

We should be proud to embrace the concepts of hard work and personal responsibility. We should be proud to defend, nurture and provide for our families. It is not we who should be ashamed of themselves but those who have decided to worship the “god that is dead” and swallow the swill of every faddish political “ism” that might be popular at the moment.

Ignorance and apathy combined with a decadent popular culture have spawned a generation that has swallowed the lie of “do what you will for tomorrow we may die” philosophy that lies at the heart of liberalism. It is a disgrace that the citizens of a great nation have rejected the wisdom of those who have come before and instead embraced self-indulgence and the pleasure of the moment at often great expense to themselves and those around them. Liberalism may portray itself as compassionate but in reality it is a selfish way of thinking.

The suspension of judgment and the concept that there is no true right or wrong is a devious lie and one that often fools even educated and intelligent people. If you are willing to suspend judgment and the concept of right and wrong, then you will eventually accept anything that is presented to you as long as it is packaged just pretty enough for you to let it into your heart and mind. The “if it feels good, do it” mindset produces only heartache and disaster in the end. It is the wise man who rejects such childlike idiocy and expects adults to act like adults. With adulthood should come responsibility, self-restraint, discernment and wisdom not dependency, irresponsibility, the inability to accept the consequences of one’s actions and the continued childlike dependency on others to fix one’s mistakes. With wisdom comes truth, and the truth is what I seek.

There is nothing wrong with uttering the truth, as uncomfortable or “incovenient” that may be for some on occasion. The application of medicine may initially sting when it is first applied to an open wound, but the initial pain is worth it if it helps heal in the end. The conservative ideology contains many time-tested answers to today’s cultural, societal, economic and moral open wounds and, though it may be painful for some, it is indeed good for us to hear them so that the healing process for our communities, nation and culture can begin.

For the most part, RINOs, liberals and Leftists take anti-depressants, and conservatives, libertarians and Tea Party members don't.

This isn't because of the two political polarities - it's the reason for them.

Democrats are no longer Kennedy Democrats, and they're no longer socialist Democrats. They have become outright totalitarian communist fascist Democrats, and their "positions" are utterly indefensible even to them. They do things simply because they can - because they lie, cheat, steal enough to control the government guns - that's it.

And the open raping of people at airports, along with trillions openly stolen to give to themselves, and the open seizure of the entire medical system solely to deprive the "surplus population" of medical care, should be more than enough to convince anyone of this fact.

Which is why flouride-based brain-control chemicals are required to keep them going.

Supplemented, of course, by behavioral instructions from television shows, and... regular... coffee klatches...

The Conservative is open to the thousands of years of ongoing debate of “What is the Good Life?”

This debate has never been settled and that debate is what has led to such innovation and discovery and the “truth” as far as discoverable by human beings. Freedom HAS to exist for there to be true debate.

Faith is an element in all ideology and people need to be free to debate and think and discover for themselves what works or doesn’t.

History and experience gives us a reasonable idea of what works for a successful, flourishing society—and we have examples of complete failure, as well as examples of tremendous successful ones.

The left lies and hides the truth through revisionist history and omission of the facts. It is because their philosophies of Marxism and Darwinism are deeply flawed and proven to be extremely destructive to any culture who adopts their ideology.

Propaganda has always been their power....and it is to control the thinking of children. PC is to shut down all debate—to name call so that more reasonable ideas will not be put into the marketplace. That is how they are winning by censoring the ideas in the world. They control publishing houses and most media outlets and TV and radio stations—although talk radio and internet are harder for them to get their fist over...they are trying.

Eakman spells out the methodologies that the left has instituted into the curricula to brainwash and condition children into Marxist ideology—not even to be good little Marxists—it doesn’t matter if they are too stupid to fully appreciate the nuances of Marx—they just want them to be useful idiots....non rational beings who will not object to Marxian goals—good little obamabots.

If we want our country back....get them out of the public schools and turn off the propaganda machine (TV) which is indoctrinating them into moral relativism where there is no good and evil. They have no idea about Hayek and Adam Smith’s ideas or the basis of freedom connected to private property and the basis of economics which allows us to be free.

Children are ignorant on the Federalist Papers...one of the greatest political philosophical achievements in the history of man—equal with any thing Plato or Socrates wrote. Why has the socialist John Dewey eliminated this from curricula???? Agenda????? You bet. Knowledge is power.

Marxists are afraid of the power of the freedom of ideas and the rationalism and logic of Christianity which supports the Natural family which is the basis of a culture. Why? Because it used to be the basis of the transmission of culture—the mother to the children with a supporting father who makes this transmission possible. The communist feminist Friedan was used to brainwash women into giving up the care and nurturing of their own children—to “better educated” strangers who OF COURSE will love your children as you do—possibly more—even though they receive minimal wage and would never do it if not paid and are conditioned by the textbooks created by Marxists like Dr. Ruggs and Dr. Counts so are positing Marxist ideology in the formative years of your child’s life—the most important time in a child’s life which forms worldview.

All schools are teaching how to put on condoms, and non-scientific global warming garbage so that government can tax more to save the world, and that unnatural acts are not only natural, but good—in other words, the Bible is hate speech and if your parents read it they are bigots. It is Christians who are bigots and haters and want to control every aspect of your life—not us who tell you what is good and right although it has nothing to do with Truth and history and we will do everything for you and you have to do what we say.

What the schools are eliminating is a child’s chance at having any sort of a “Good Life”. They are making sure it will be a life of no meaning, no knowledge, and controlled by the state.

http://www.imaginativeconservative.org/2011/04/quote-of-day-russell-kirk-conservatism.html

Conservatism, I repeat, is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics. It does not try to excite the enthusiasm of a secular religion. If you want men who will sacrifice their past and present and future to a set of abstract ideas, you must go to Communism, or Fascism, or Benthamism. But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in the wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles. The high–minded conservative believes in Principle, or enduring values ascertained through appreciation of the wisdom of dead generations, the study of history, and the reconciliation of authority with the altered circumstances of our present life. He is a highly reasonable person, although he looks with deep suspicion on the cult of Reason––the worship of an abstract rationality which asserts that mundane planning is able to solve all our difficulties of spirit and community. But the high–minded conservative detests Abstraction, or the passion for forcing men and societies into a preconceived pattern divorced from the special circumstances of different times and countries. (Dr. Russell Kirk, Program for Conservatives)

Conservatism explained...

Ten Conservative Principles
By Russell Kirk

Being neither a religion nor an ideology, the body of opinion termed conservatism possesses no Holy Writ and no Das Kapital to provide dogmata. So far as it is possible to determine what conservatives believe, the first principles of the conservative persuasion are derived from what leading conservative writers and public men have professed during the past two centuries. After some introductory remarks on this general theme, I will proceed to list ten such conservative principles.
