(CNSNews.com) – NBC apologized for omitting the words “under God” and “indivisible” from the Pledge of Allegiance during Sunday’s U.S. Open, but the incident has touched off calls for NBC to hold those responsible for the omission accountable.
During the opening broadcast of the U.S. Open, NBC showed a montage that included children reciting the pledge, but the words “under God” and “indivisible” were omitted twice. The network received immediate backlash about the incident through social media, including tweets calling for a boycott of NBC.
“We began our coverage of this final round just about three hours ago, and when we did it was our intent to begin the coverage of this U.S. Open championship with a feature that captured the patriotism of our national championship being held in our nation’s capital for the third time,” announcer Dan Hicks told viewers.

Pro golfers are usually pretty conservative. Unfortunately, the new younger European golfers like Rory are likely progressive little dopes. I enjoyed seeing Rory win yesterday but would hope that most on the PGA would join in the outrage.
Hard for me to boycott them any more than I do. Don’t watch their network at all, although I did see some of the US Open yesterday at my nephew’s house.

They wanted to capture the patriotism of this event by turning it into a political event.
Fox News also pointed out in their article that ‘Under God” was not in the original plege but was added in 1954.
I would like to pint out THAT IT WAS ADDED and therefore is NOW part of the pledge of allegiance. they make it sound somehow like it is tained, not really pure, because it was added.
When Rory was 12 years old he was already volunteering for the Special Olympics; we can cut him some slack at age 22. He’ll learn better as his worldwide income spikes higher.
So the suits at NBC learned nothing from L’affair Weiner, or Watergate for that matter. When you screw up, admit it immediately and fully, or you will go down for certain.

SOP for NBC. Since they just hired the PBS pres. who had to resign over the O’Keefe sting and Juan Williams firing, we’ll be seeing more and more of this.
The apologized but didn’t state what words were left out. One statement said something to the effect of “timing” but the words would only have saves a second of time.
A few years ago on FR, it was noted that 58% of NBC News-New York staffers are gay.
