EMILY's List Ranks 2012 Republican Candidates (they like Perry the best)
Roll Call ^ | Dec. 28, 2011 | Christina Bellantoni

EMILY's List today released its first-ever presidential scorecard, a look at how the GOP candidates rank on issues of importance to its membership.

Not surprisingly, the campaign organization that backs Democratic women who support abortion rights judged the Republicans' stances on Democratic-supported measures. For example, the candidates were dinged for opposing President Barack Obama's health care law or his jobs act or for opposing funding for Planned Parenthood. They were ranked on their support for Budget Chairman Paul Ryan's budget overhauling Medicare and their positions on equal pay legislation, family and medical leave legislation or the Equal Rights Amendment.

EMILY's List also evaluated the candidates' stances on unemployment benefits and the minimum wage.

The group affixed the "worst" label to former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.). From worst-to-best in the rest of the pack were Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Rep. Ron Paul (Texas), former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman. Texas Gov. Rick Perry ranked the highest.

"On each issue, candidates were given strikes for their rhetoric, actions and consistency," the site reads. "Women voters are key to any candidate hoping to win in November 2012, and we want to make sure that voters know the truth about the Republican candidates. We encourage voters to learn more about the candidates' records and to explore how their views would impact their home states."

EMILY's List will spend some money on Web ads in the early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina and will update the scorecard throughout the 2012 campaign.

FYI! Emily’s List thinks highly of Gov.Perry. They like liberals and this is not the type of list any conservative would want to be at the top.

Oddly, the pro-abortion and pro-homosexual Romney is NOT a favorite. Odd!

Didn't EMILY's List back McCain also?

I see a trend here.

“Not the list I would want to be at the top of... “

Why would an anti-life, Obama group such as Emily’s List show who to vote for among the Republicans? It looks like a clever way to strike out at Perry. They must be very worried about his getting the nomination.

Thanks for the Ping. I see Santorum is ranked "high" too.

I find it very interesting. It's the women's vote and they DON'T LIKE NEWT. Gee I wonder why.....

Anyway, the NOW gang despise Gov. Rick Perry and Margaret Carlson puts Perry on her "ick" list:

"Perry's push for the sonogram bill has fortified his long-standing ties to family values and pro-life groups but it has also made him a target from other circles.

"We would aggressively work to defeat him [Perry], of course," said Terry O'Neill, president of the National Organization for Women, which describes itself as non-partisan but typically backs Democrats. Star Telegram

Margaret Carlson’s take on Perry She hoping he won’t run against Romney, so made an “ick” list about him including:

……”This year, Perry signed into law "emergency legislation" forcing a woman seeking an abortion to have a sonogram, after which she'll be told everything about the fetus. And after Texas's anti-sodomy law was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003, he supported the state legislature's refusal to remove the law from its books and called the justices "nine oligarchs in robes."………….

But Life News reports:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry blasted pro-abortion President Barack Obama on pro-life issues "Perry said that, under Obama “our federal tax dollars can now be used to fund abortion all over the world. With the stroke of a pen, abortion essentially became a U.S. foreign export......."

”Perry has pleased pro-life advocates in Texas many times with signing pro-life legislation — most recently signing an ultrasound bill allowing women to see them before an abortion and hopefully changing their minds on it. He has been strongly supported by pro-life groups. Perry supported or signed into law the Women’s Right to Know Act and the Prenatal Protection Act in 2003, parental consent law in 2005, and funding for alternatives to abortions in 2007 and 2009."

EMILY is about abortion first, last and always. These good ladies with cold hearts of gold never saw an abortion they didn't love. Regular bunch of vampires...

EMILY supported Kay Baily Hutchinson over Perry in Texas.

This is so much bogus mischief. I cal BS and protective covering. There probably isn't a more pro-life pol in that field, save Bachman and Santorum, than Perry.

Yup. NOthing these dames want more than to see Romney get the nod. They must have figured out that Perry votes will go to Romney - and they know their imprimatur is the kiss of death in the Republican primary.

They realize that the ‘RAT primary will be a non-event, and so they are trying to influence the Republican one.
