Overthrowing tyranny and facing govt troops is just not going to fly with the majority of our population, even though we know that is what it’s really about.
The question is valid but this whole argument is specious from the very git-go—the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with protection from criminals; it's about overthrowing tyranny and facing whatever firepower the government's troops possess!!!
We mustn't let the Left frame the debate!

We do ourselves and our countrymen no good if we are not first HONEST about the issue! If the “majority” choose to sell their freedom for some chimera of security, so be it. Perhaps better men will again choose to keep them free.
Well, we need emotional arguments for the “low information” (i.e. stupid or ignorant) voters. Lives saved, “Freedom!” etc. They don’t like to think so we have to figure out how to push their “feel good” buttons.
I would like to see research on police response times. The left want us to rely on the police to protect us, but the reality is that the police rarely get to a crime in time to stop it. Usually, all they can do is draw a chalk line around you and talk to the witnesses.
We all pretty much know and agree about that. That’s why I was asking about the number of rounds shot.

The guy’s a New Yawker....he should know that even the NYPD has to fire 20-30 times to get those three or four hits.
