Obama Administration Lying Again: Syrian Officials Deny Chemical Weapons Use
Guns 2 Jihadists ^ | John

Posted on 04/26/2013 9:07:44 AM PDT by JohnPDuncan

CBC out of Canada reports unnamed Syrian officials speaking to the Associated Press denying the use of chemical weapons against foreign jihadist 'rebels' within the country that seemed to surface yesterday and that were repeated by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

The report also quotes a Syrian lawmaker Sharif Shehadeh:

Shehadeh called the U.S. claims "lies" and likened them to false accusations that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction — a claim U.S. policymakers had used to justify the invasion of that country in 2003.

"What is being designed for Syria now is similar to what happened in Iraq when Colin Powell lied in the Security Council and said Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction prior to the U.S. invasion and occupation of that country," he said.

Meanwhile Israeli officials are calling for the US to respond to the now debunked assertion that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons:

"I think the U.S., as the leader of the Western world, should lead the efforts with our partners in Europe and Israel and to take action with what we're seeing happening today in Syria," Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon told CNN.

The question remains why Israel is so eager to see the collapse of the Assad regime. Do they believe they can control whatever Muslim Brotherhood puppet replaces him? If so this is extremely naive thinking from our Israeli friends as it would no doubt signal the start of an even longer and more protracted civil war. Also the evidence from Egypt suggests that when the Muslim Brotherhood takes control they immediately persecute Christians, re-write laws along fundamentalist religious grounds and cause political and social unrest.

1. Why should we trust Syrian officials?
2. Powell didn’t lie about WMDs. He reported on the intelligence he was given. In some cases the intelligence was wrong or not accurate but reporting what it said, not knowing things weren’t true isn’t lying.

I remember a NYT article from 2005 or 2006 which detailed the removal of 500+ lbs or tons (can’t remember which) of yellowcake uranium from Iraq.

The big lie *is* that there were not WMD’s.

The New York Times which supported the war against Iraq and which is just publishing propaganda from the CIA.

There was never any WMDs there.

If it were just ‘Obama officials’ saying this, that is one thing, but we also have Israeli intelligence confirming the intelligence. We also know from basic logic about the Assad regime that they have had chemical weapons, that the mindset of their regime is to use them, and they are in a use it or lose it situation right now.

All of that trumps some ‘unnamed’ Syrian official going to some third rate Canadian rag.

What a load of crap. There were over 300 various chemical weapons finds in Iraq of various sizes and states.

Plus, we have the mass graves of the victims of said weapons. They didn’t exactly die from gas from eating too much Taco Bell.

It wasn’t just the NYT reporting all of this. You can find outlets all over the world with similar reports plus first hand reports from soldiers right here on this very site.

[[I remember a NYT article from 2005 or 2006 which detailed the removal of 500+ lbs or tons (can’t remember which) of yellowcake uranium from Iraq.]]

and then they ran article after article claiming the yellowcake was unusable/old etc- and they refused to run reports abotu how investigators foudn mobile trucks with traces of WMD’s all over the place, found stashes of components needed for the production of WMD’s how inspectors were denied access to facilities that were known WMD production sites whiel the Iraaqi’s were given time to move their WMD’s on and on it goes-

Just doign a google search for ‘Saddam did have WMD’s brigns up article after article by RESPONSIBLE reporters outside the MSM that proved Saddam diod have WMD’s

But once again, the spineless GOP- clueless GOP didn’t defend themselves with the FACTS that were KNOWN by their own military to cvounter the BS o nthe left

We had members here who were soldiers or contractors who gave first hand accounts of things that were found the MSM didn’t give the time to report or where shoved down on page 6 or 7.

Elements within Israel have their own agenda. I was going to speculate on that in the post but couldn’t be bothered. They probably see it as a larger proxy war with Iran. Something the US should not be involved in.

If they want to stir up trouble let them but dont let them draw US forces into it.

Destabilizing Syria is not good for the region or for Syria so these complex geo-political games are not really in anyones interest including Israel’s.

If they really had WMDs they would have on the front page of every newspaper with Bush saying “told ya so” but they didn’t.

And anything they had they got from the US anyway!

Oh good grief. Were you not born yet? The entire meme the media was pushing was “Bush lied, people died”. President Bush’s biggest fault was he didn’t get out in front of any of those attacks.

Pure speculation but I think some in the Israeli government don’t mind these countries in turmoil as it means less heat on them if they’re busy fighting each other.

But this is extremely naive as I’ve explained because you dont want these nutjobs with guns (which we help supply) and power. This is asking for trouble even if those within Israel don’t realize it.

I starting to wonder about this poster as it seems nearly every post he or she makes there are sly digs or out right left wing talking points.

We were hearing from soem outside the MSM that were reportign first hand knowledge by soldiers statign emphatically that there were idneed WMD’s- but htose smaller reporters didn’t even get the tiem of day fro mthe MSM because their reports refuted what the left was hammering-

It’s very clear that washington is full of dirty corrupt politicians who care NOTHING abotu anythign except linign hteir pockets with OUR m,oney before it runs out- They are willing to lie, cheat, and in some cases no doubt even murder their way to the top- and when a ligitimate story coems up the MSM simply ignores it if it might impact their selected politicians-

We had refugees from iraq pleading- BEGGING congress to act immediately to stop the terror and human rights violations, and describign suxch horrendous acts of violence commited by saddam and his men, and we had iraqi scientists telling congress Saddam WAS makign WMD’s and STILL the left REFUSED to admit President Bush was right- They threw thsoe Iraqi refugees and scientists aside liek they were just so much gaRbage because the left had a political agenda and FACTS be damned, they were goign to achieve their ANTIAMERICAN agenda coem hell or high water

What a despicable group of thugs we have runnign this coutnry-

Maybe you trust Wikileaks more? Their leaked documents showed many WMD finds.
