There are numerous alarming reasons why the US government and the military have been buying up all the ammo. Heres one of them. Obama and the EPA just shut down the last lead smelting plant in the US. They raised the EPA regulations by 10 fold and it would have cost the plant $100 million to comply. You can own all the guns you want, but if you cant get ammo, you are out of luck.
Remember when Obama promised his minions that he was working on gun control behind the scenes? Welcome to it. Now, all domestic mined lead ore will have to be shipped overseas, refined and then shipped back to the US. Not only will ammo now be even harder to come by, the demand and the process of supply will cause the price to skyrocket even more. And ponder this
there is an excellent chance that Obama will rig the market to where all ammo has to be purchased from a government entity instituting de facto ammo registration. So much for the Second Amendment. There has not been a peep about this in the major news outlets and it is done. With the US no longer producing lead, all supplies will now have to come from China, Australia or Peru, with the overwhelming emphasis on China. More redistribution of wealth; more economic and liberty crippling of the US on tap.

I’ve been seeing TUL ammo and another brand (PRP?) I can’t remember at WalMart. Both seem to come from Eastern Europe. Anyone use them?
Although it cost me a good bit and countless daily automated searches online re: available calibers, prices, stocking, etc. this is just what I was afraid of.’
Ideologically I am diametrically opposed to this government and its efforts to manipulate ammunition availability. I am, however, not personally concerned because I did my homework and prepared.
As good citizens, and to comply with regulations, looks like it is time to turn our lead into the government.
One at a time, or in ‘bulk’?
I bought some, but haven’t fired it. I noticed that it has steel casing, and only brass is allowed at my local range.
Batterie$
Batteries?
That’s “energy”...
Don’t you know that’s bad?
My range allows steel casing. What is the deal with your range???? Relative to another poster, Tulammo is made in Russia and is good for practice at the range is not particularly high quality but feeds well and goes bang. You shot group will not be as good as with high end ammo. It is polymer coated steel casing. The other ammo mentioned was PMC, "Precision Made Cartridge" from South Korea. This is high quality ammo with brass casings. I have been shooting PMC for 15 years and have had no problems.
+1 for the PMC ammo, their brass is very nice for reloading too.
I have in my 45 auto. Good ammo.
“What is the deal with your range???? “
Maybe you have to leave your casings.
And they don’t want any junky steel.
Easy to separate with magnet, though, but not valuable.
Did I beat him to it?

Obama has bought up most of the ammo on the open market for homeland security.
The EPA regs has closed down the ONLY lead smelter in the US.
Cali has banned lead in ammo to protect condors.
No doubt the EPA will find something about arrows polluting and ban them.
You know where this is going.

***And they dont want any junky steel.***
I’ve reloaded steel casings in .45, boxer primed. Just grease the case when resizing. It is ok for practice.
TulAmmo and others like it contain steel, which is generally prohibited at indoor ranges. They usually use a magnet to detect steel if you bring your own ammo. They won’t let you use it because it will tear up their range.
What are they going to make car batteries out of now? I just cannot believe that they are going to stop making car batteries so where is that lead coming from hmmmmm?
“I’m not sure, unless they recycle/reload all the brass that is collected, and have no separation method.”
the separation method we use at my range is a big magnet on rollers.
—wonder how long it will be before see a ban on lead imports?
