WOUNDED WARRIORS PROJECT IS A FRAUD
Coach is Right ^ | 11/11/13 | Dean Graham US Army Ret, Iraq Vet

The Wounded Warriors Project (WWP) pays millions of dollars for commercials showing injured service members. Many were forced to sign non-disclosure agreements (Why?). I have talked to many Veterans who were promised many things from WWP and did not receive anything in return for the use of their likeness in commercials and print ads.

The commercials do not mention anything WWP does to help the injured service members. Listen closely to the commercials as they parade an injured veteran around like an injured animal. They pay famous actors and musicians to pull on the nation’s heart strings. Fox News takes...

Large sums of money and the Federal Government Laws for big charities have killed charity in America. It have allowed people to grab money through administration costs.

I have several friends who are very involved with charitable organizations working on behalf of veterans and others who are military bloggers. They are not impressed with Wounded Warriors and all that I know have withdrawn their support of this organization. It does not appear to be what it seems.

According to Charity Navigator, WWP allocates 55 percent of its revenue to program expenses and 44.8 percent to fundraising and administrative expenses. That’s pretty poor.

I have no first-hand knowledge, but I’ve heard the same. There are plenty of other ways to help wounded veterans where the money will be properly used.

This is news.....

I’d like to hear others assessment of the WWP.

There are several, solid, well intentioned, conservative media voices, supporting WWP.
I would have thought they vetted WWP.
Laura, Hugh, Bill, Dennis, etc....

So, what happens with these things? Are they started by a well-meaning person then hijacked by money-grabbers? This is sickening.

Be skeptical of any charitable organization that advertises on television!

I make a general rule of not donating to charities whose admins make more than I ever did...

As soon as WWP changed their CEOs (equivalents) I KNEW IT IS Going the way of United Ways and Red Cross.

They are after $$$$ humongous Businesses/Corporate money, not individual donations, and ALWAYS turn Lefties. As they will support gun control etc etc

Only a VERY small fraction of the donation they collected will be used for the true purpose of the ‘non-profit org’, i.e. helping wounded veterans.

Sadly, I have heard the same thing from a friend (Marine) at Walter Reed.

I had no idea. We have donated to WWP several times in the past. Can anyone verify this?

I never give to national charities anymore. I prefer to give to church or local groups that I have thoroughly vetted

Greed will infiltrate every organization and business if left unchecked, or if it’s migrated to the top, or starts at the top.

I quit working with them when they refused to accept donations from a church. After researching their “success,” it seems like they are good fundraisers, but not good at transparency.

WWP has done alot to help my son. In the 3 years my family has delt with this organization we have nothing but great things to say about what they have done for us. Some may have a different experience, but for us they have been the answer to our prayers.

I would like a clarification of the numbers. Does this mean that 99.8% is used in fundraising and expenses, or does it mean that 44.8% is used in fundraising and administrative expenses - which is part of the 55% program expenses?

If the former, it is a completely fraudulent “charity” intended to pay administrative salaries. If the later, it is not being managed as well as it should, administratively heavy, but possibly still well intentioned.

There’s a special place for these types on judgment day. This is like the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen foundations seeking donations to cure cancer, then they both turn around and donate the money you donated to them to help cure cancer, to one of the biggest causes of cancer in the world today – Planned Parenthood’s abortion business. Capitalizing on other’s misery and creating more misery for people is pure evil.

I give mostly to reputable local and regional ones, mainly animal shelters and rescues.

How about Marine Parents? I’ve done a little work with them, and they seemed legit.
