This installment shows the War on Women has always been conducted by the Democrats. They have always rubbed minorities in the dirt and bragged about it as they smugly went about their dirty business. Chapter Ten: Democrat assaults on Women and minorities Women Suffrage

On January 10, 1878 Aaron Sargent, a California Republican, introduced Susan B. Anthony’s women suffrage bill which was defeated by the then majority Democrat Senate. Similar bills were defeated three more times by Democrat controlled Senates and woman’s suffrage only became a reality when it was finally passed by a Republican Senate and Republican House in 1919. [1]

On October 8, 1888 Grover Cleveland signed the Chinese Exclusion Act which hampered Chinese migration to America until 1943 about the time another Democrat, Franklin Roosevelt, was putting Japanese American citizens in camps throughout the western states. [2]

Cleveland was in step with other Democrats in that he had no particular desire to enforce the 15th Amendment giving voting rights to African Americans.

Nevertheless, he went one step further when during his second term on February 8, 1894 he presided over the Democrats’ repeal of the Republican’s Enforcement Act which was specifically written to protect African American voting rights. [3]

Cleveland’s first Vice President Thomas Hendricks was noted for having opposed each of the Constitutional Amendments written to provide Civil Rights guarantees to African Americans. [4] Democrats and the 13th 14th and 15th Amendments

On January 31, 1865 the Republican Congress passed the 13th Amendment banning slavery. While every Republican voted yes, very few Senate Democrats joined them. [5]
