GOP didn't lose in 2012 because 4 million Republican voters stayed home

Its a common them. Heard Rush say it the other day. Romney lost because four million McCain voters stayed home. The problem with that claim is the Republicans actually increased their votes in seven of the nine swing states while Obama's vote fell in the other two. Take a look at the numbers.

How about this explanation - the Republicans didn’t “stay home”, they simply undervoted on the Presidential part of the ballot.

Unfortunately, there is no checkmark for “None of the above” on any part of the ticket. Sometimes, that would turn out to be either the plurality or even the majority.

I tried to read through the first paragraph, and it was a definite struggle. It’s written by a second grader: run-on sentences, bad grammar, no punctuation. Jeesh.

None of These Candidates is a voting option for Nevada voters for President of the United States and for state constitutional positions. This option is listed along with the names of individuals running for the position and is often described as “none of the above”.

VOTER FRAUD?!? I was dumbfounded at the lack of believably when it came to voter fraud and the rats, as if it were ok and we didnt see it with the GOP because they might want to use it in the future. We heard it day in and day out, remember ACORN? No investigation just dead silence and we got the impostor and chief

I have been posting the similar/same information for quite a while - that the popular myth about conservative/republican voters staying home in 08 or 12 wasn’t borne out by the facts.

I think someone else finally posted something back to me that had some credibility to it regarding the concentration of democrat votes in certain areas vs. repub votes in same where it appeared the popular myth came from.

If you look at the overall results, Obama did worse in ‘12 than in ‘08 and Romney did better than McCain.

Like it or not, the Republicans didn’t give WHITE VOTERS any reason to vote for them...other than a protest vote against Obama, which doesn’t win presidential elections (i.e., we also tried that twice with Clinton).

Trump is giving White Voters something to vote for, and his percentage in that demographic (still 70% of the electorate) will EASILY carry him to victory - over whoever replaces Hillary.

Unfortunately, there is no checkmark for 'None of the above'

I vote in every election to make sure they count me as someone who shows up. I never vote for a candidate I don't like (e.g. the lesser of 2 evils). I vote for a 3rd party that's closest to what I want or skip that part of the ballot.

As long as only a few % of us do that it doesn't matter much. But if we could get 10-15% of the voters doing that both parties would start paying attention.
* Why'd the R congressman get 10% more votes than the R presdient?,
* Why'd the 3rd party get 10%
There are policy answers to those questions that either party may use to change the results in next election. If the %s are two or three times the margin of victory (usually only a few %). When voters just stay home both parties don't know what to do an just call us stupid and lazy and think GOTV is the solution rather than changing their actions and doing what voters want for the next 2-4 years.

In Tennessee we can “write in” someone not listed....

and so I did...

along with those other 4 million Conservatives who refused to vote for the liberal abortionist father of same sex marriage Willard...

We didn’t stay home we voted our Conservative conscience...

If you look at the overall results, Obama did worse in 2012 than in 2008 and Romney did better than McCain.

You are comparing one bad election (low unethusiastic repubbie votes for Romney against a poor performing democrat) to one earlier terrible election/campaign (McCain, even with Palin’s draw) to an exciting but dumb and unknown Oboma.

Look down ticket. 2010 (after only two years of Oboma's disasters), the Tea Party SWEPT OUT the democrats from the House leadership and got a majority.

In 2012, the IRS-weakened Tea Party KEPT the House, and knocked out many MORE democrat senators DESPITE the repubbie "leadership" in Washington OPPOSING the Tea Party cadidates in 3 states!

AND Romney STILL lost to Obama despite those down-ticket victories! ROMNEY and ROMNEY'S advosrs WERE the problem.

I posted this report several times. When my wife went in to vote in republican hunterdon county, the machine dropped down to ‘D’ after she clicked ‘R’, so she called the poll worker in to question it. The lady cleared the machine( no idea if vote counted) and told her “ THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT TODAY”.

Your wife’s vote counted all right. It counted as a Democrat vote. The same thing is going to happen in 2016 also. You can take it to the bank.

Well, yes it was. 2012 was the year that the Democrat Party perfected their election stealing technique. It will ne utilized again in 2016.

Vote fraud.

Electronic voting machines were rigged. We are hopelessly stupid if we continue to believe this nonsense about republicans staying home.

We are being set up

We have been set up

Hillary will win and whatever the story is about how we did not vote or whatever will be forced to be accepted because of our inaction on vote fraud in the past.

I have maintained if Hillary stays in, the only explainable reason would be the Democrats believe they can fix the election.

We have left the “President” box unmarked on our ballots the past two elections, while voting for the down-ticket conservatives running. We do not regret it because we no longer vote for “the lesser of two evils.”

See, that right there is the reason we got 8 years of Obama. You can’t vote your conscience! You have to vote for whoever the Republican Establishment tells you to vote for.

Or something.

Anyway. “You and those like you are what cost “us” the elections.” As many right here on Free Republic like to say.
