20 years ago, my wife gave away my carboy and put dog food in my ABS plastic bucket that I did my first ferments in. I have constantly reminded her of that violation. This Christmas, she bought two brew kits for me. So of course, I had to try it out right away.
I did a kit for a Honey Brown Ale - Similar to Newcastle. Yesterday, I cracked open a bottle with friends.
Now I seem to remember that there was a ping list for brewers here on FR. Can someone point me in the right direction to get added to the ping list?
Ale rocks. Pilsner = piss.
I have thought about doing that in the past. But I could never seem to find the time. Congrats on getting back in business.

I did my last home brew about 10 years ago. I still have all my equipment stored in the shop. I had graduated all the way up to all grain and corny keg dispensing. I keep saying I’ll get back to it, but life is so busy with other hobbies....ðŸ˜
Would love to see some pics of these tasty brews in a nice tall glass!

WOOOOHOOOO! HOORAY taxcontrol. Making/building something that friends and family may enjoy. Great work. Hat’s off to all home brewers and micro brewers. A relatively recent example of individual initiative/capitalism at its finest.

Been about 20 years for me too, would like to start again. Mrs p6 always complained the house smelled like a brewery.
I kept my plastic bucket where it was easily accesable...sometimes by our very young kids and their friends. They would drag it to the middle of the room, squat in a circle around it and take turns poking it with a stick. When it bubbled they’d clap and laugh.
FWIW oldest son now manages Beer World in Greentree PA near Pittsburgh. HQ for a lot of high priced “snob” brews.
Luckily they also stock a lot of the cheap stuff I prefer, LOL!
Only thing Carter did was making home brewing legal that was even remotely worth a damn. My beers turn out so so, but I like heavy dark beers and they are hard to keep palatable. I know, I know, keep your OG reasonable or you end up with crap unless you are really really careful and control all variables. Winter is the time you can control temp most precisely. Keep your brews on the low side of what temp rating the yeast have and they come out pretty clean. Don’t boost your OG with added malt sugar. Ask me how I know... ;-)

Congrads! I’ve always wanted to get into home brewing. Unfortunaetly I’m the only beer drinker in the house, and I don’t want to be stuck with five gallons of the same beer - any beer, to drink by myself. Fortunately I live within an hour of some of the best craft breweries in the country.

I’m afraid the ping list died out. I think Red_Devil232 was in charge.
We make wine. Just set off two small batches of grapes from vines we have on the property. A red grape of an unknown variety, & we have a chardonnay & niagra that we blend for a white wine. They both usually come out very nice.
Partial to Double IPA.

I brewed up a honey brown as well over Christmas... I was really happy with it.
Brewing is a lot of fun. I used to make an oatmeal stout that would knock your socks off. I’ve been cheating with a Mr. Beer kit for the past couple of years.

Brewing beer is as old as recorded history. You’re part of that. Pretty cool.
I made my first batch in 1986 and just made a Thomas Hardy’s Ale clone yesterday with a buddy. We have a Belgian Blonde Leffe clone) about ready to keg and a brown ale tapped and delicious.
