MSNBC breaking news host and ex-NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was allowed out on MSNBC’s airwaves early Friday afternoon to discuss President Obama’s visit to Hiroshima so he could resurrect a taped report that aired in 2005 on the 60th anniversary of the nuclear bomb’s dropping on the Japanese city.
In the course of discussing the event afterward, though, Williams threw some shade in the direction of the U.S. military and then-President Harry Truman by complaining that “we’re the only nation to have used them in anger” against the horrifying Axis Powers member.

I say we send the ole Enola Gay on one more mission. Instead of a nuclear bomb, we let Brian Williams be what’s dropped at 10,000 feet over Hiroshima. We can do it in the name of joy this time!!!

No matter how many times this topic is debated, it always reverts to “America the Horrible”.
Here it is May, and the occasion of 0bama’s visit to Hiroshima is of course the trigger. To have the same damn conversation yet again. A whole new crop of ignorant libs will simply HAVE to go to America the Horrible and speculate as to how we could have should have, might have, and on and on and on. And no matter how many times their arguments are shown to be vapid and wrong and one sided, it’s still America the Horrible.
You can bet money this will happen in exactly the same way in August.
That this argument or debate is NEVER settled and always has to be scab-picked again and again ad infinitum is proof positive that it is invoked and repeated endlessly for the sole purpose of denigrating America. The argument is never held to decide upon a conclusion. It is held to trash the US and for no other reason.
According to his autobiography "I was There", Brian was not only the pilot of the Enola Gay, he was also the Prime Minister of Japan. It was only because it was his day off as Prime Minister that he was able to pilot the Enola Gay.
WW II historians are in awe of Brian Williams.
And it saved lives.

Has Brian Williams ever had a history class? Has he ever read a book about the war? I’m sure he has, but you couldn’t tell that from a statement such as this. He made a good living though — while it lasted — being a pompous, ignorant, lying, pain in the ass. Brian Williams — one of the reasons I gave up watching network news ages ago.
My Father was in a staging area in the Philippines in August of 1945 awaiting orders to ship out to Japan for the invasion.
I thank God quite often for Truman using the A Bombs in “anger.” There’s a good chance I wouldn’t be here today otherwise.
