FBI Director James Comey called to testify before House Oversight committee

Political Theater...While Comey's testimony might be interesting, I labor under no delusion that it will be meaningful

Tomorrow, FBI Director James Comey will appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform committee, where he’ll attempt to explain his baffling decision not to recommend charges for Hillary Clinton. How he’ll do that is anyone’s guess, since virtually every media outlet - even the left-wing ones - seems stunned that his “no charges” announcement began with a litany of chargeable offenses.

He seems confident that he gave a thorough investigation. We’ll see tomorrow.

The dog and pony show will be followed by a strongly worded letter from the GOP

Let us know what they found out in a couple of years.

The only way it could have any impact is to televise it wall to wall.

Executive branch cronys simply are not intimidated any longer by Congress.

Why does the HOR even bother with committee hearings? That's where legitimate issues go to die. What the HOR has is the power of the purse, which they've abdicated. How about something dramatic like not funding AF1 when it's being used for political purposes? How about leaving Obama's illegal swarms of "migrants" with no money for funding the program that brings them in and supports them?

No wonder these self-serving jerks aren't earning an honest living.

Grrr......end of this rant.

If Jack the Ripper showed up to a GOP committee his popularity would skyrocket

“He seems confident that he gave a thorough investigation.”
The investigation was fine, the conclusion was cowardly and weak.

It seems to me that he went beyond the scope of his office by declaring that no reasonable prosecutor would charge this case. The role of the FBI is to investigate, not prosecute. So, I think the first question to Comey should be, "Who made the decision not to recommend charges?"

If he claims it was his decision, then it's pretty clear he overstepped his authority, and stepped on the toes of the career prosecutors.

And if it was not his decision, then he needs to say who it was, and that person (or persons) can be questioned why the facts would not support a prosecution, when they had prosecuted other similar cases.

It seems pretty evident that there was some pretty sticky things to go over before this decision was reached. Comey owes it to the American people, who ultimately are his boss, to clarify the decision-making process.

These clowns will interrupt their fundraising cocktail parties to read what their aides hand them.

Is Cummings going to be there? Barf.

I think he was chomping at the bit to recommend an indictment but was told to back off. To me, that explains why he went into the litany of what info they did find. I think he resented being held back.

Otherwise, he just would’ve come out and said that after an exhaustive investigation, nothing illegal was discovered.

He’ll duck behind the “intent” part of the statute which most prosecutors do when the decision is “iffy.” The “intent” part of the statute is pure FOG, no measurement system for it at all. (If you want to hide ...)
