Have you seen these slamfire gun? Basically, you have a barrel that is separate from the receiver, and there is a fixed firing pin at the back end here that sets off the round whenever you push the barrel to the rear.
Some survivalist preppers have experimented by building them with steel pipes. This fella from Royal Nonsuch Youtuber have created several variations, including this one that shoots a 12 gauge shotgun shell.
One of the downside to a slam fire gun is that its basically a one shot deal. Though there have been mocks that houses a hopper similar to the ones used in paintball. This particular is used as a repeater, but not one hundred percent reliable.
A basic way to shoot a follow up shot is to just pull the pipe (barrel) out and stick another round in the front of the barrel, and then you can go ahead and fire that, and it'll shoot the empty case out of the end of the barrel, so you don't even have to pull that thing out. See the different variation of slam fire 12 gauge below. See the footage of these homemade slamfire 12 gauges here.
Back in North Philly, we called them “Zip Guns” back in the day...
This is MUCH fancier... :^)
Well...it’s affordable.
What could possibly go wrong?
One wonders how many disasters were preceded by the phrase “Wanna see something REALLY cool?”
When I was a kid around 5 years old, several of the neighborhood boys had made zip guns. They were typically only around 10 years old.
They weren’t doing it to evade laws, they were just doing it because they could. I have no idea how to make one but it must not be that hard.

Probably the same as, “hold muh beer and watch this.”
I would use the antenna of a be bug. And a .22 round. That’s it.
Haha!!! Indeed!!
but.....remember.....a socsec check precludes YOU ALL!
just a reminder.................
Dick G@Planet WTF!
;)
+++++
That’s how I remember them being made, too.
“be bug”, i.e., vw bug, correct?
When cars had antennas and bumpers were chrome.
When men were men and women were glad of it... :^)
Slamfire shotguns were widely used in the Philippines.
How old are you?
Wow. That looks like a really spectacular way to blow your own face off.
When I was a kid, I knew a kid who had a hook instead of a hand as a result of a garage gunsmithing project like this. He did eventually succeed in killing himself, but I can no longer remember whether he was the dumbass who was driving drunk and thought he could beat the freight train to the crossing or the dumbass who decided to prove the handgun wasn’t loaded by putting it to his head and pulling the trigger.
You were just one key off B=V and E=W. LOL
If you selected pipe or tubing rated for the pressure of the shotshell(which isn’t that great)you easily buid a gun that wouldn’t blow up. There are also some very interesting things you make out of pipe and 12 guage rounds for the enemy to step on, based on the same principle. They will ruin or remove a foot...
