"Socialism is predicated on action.
When socialists see problems, they want to do something about them. They want to take action. Starving children? Give them food. Poor people? Give them money. Climate change? Invest in solar panels.
The solution is always to add something. Add food, add money, add technology and the problem will go awayjust like how taking penicillin will cure your infection.
And if the solution fails?
Try again.
Send more food. Spend more money. Invent new stuff (just like you would take more penicillin). The underlying assumption is that there is a solution for every problem, that politics is an equation that can be solved, a ledger that can be balanced.
And the bigger the problem, the bigger the solution must be.
But what socialists fail to realize is that by doing something, they often make it worse.
This is why socialism doesnt work."

Ideas have consequences! - Weaver
Of course it doesn’t work. Socialism is the religion of whack jobs.
Interesting.
I am very much of the mind-set that there is *ALWAYS* something that can be done; I think I am incapable of ever conceiving that there is ‘nothing that can be done’. Yep, I’m sure there are such situations, but can’t process them mentally. OTOH I’m pretty damned far from being a socialist.
But, seriously, it is a good point; a lot of the people I went to school with in getting a Political Science degree were very much of that mindset- that there is *NO* problem that with planning and resources cannot be solved. There is probably a bit of self-selection going on there- the people who think like that are more likely to become members of the Deep State.
Thanks, thought provoking.
socialism doesn’t work because it promotes laziness. That question must pose quite a conundrum for liberals
Excellent article.
Explains things very well.
There is no incentive for those with more worth and skill to bust their ass for the same reward everyone gets for the easiest jobs.
Government has no business determining what is fair for anyone to be paid. Or issuing penalties for being paid “too much”. Or determining it must “take some of what you earned away” for others they have decided others deserve more than you, the person who earned it.
