Real Reason Behind Venezuelan Chaos
IWB ^ | Tesseract

Posted on 07/20/2017 4:16:41 PM PDT by davikkm

Over the past few years, Venezuelan society has been rapidly deteriorating. Civil unrest has heightened to the point of rioting, looting, violent crime and a government opposition group that is keen on overthrowing Maduro’s government.

Many have blamed Venezuela’s chaos on its socialist government. There are many socialist nations that aren’t in complete shambles, and many that have had some success. While I don’t agree with socialism as an ideology, I don’t believe Venezuela’s problems can be solely blamed on socialism.

Something that intensely pushed Venezuela into destabilization was the oil crash of 2014. Because the price of oil dropped so severely, and has remained low, pressure has been put on countries that rely on oil sales for most of their income. Countries with more diverse and expansive economies were better prepared to weather the storm.

Yup, they were this close to creating the workers’ paradise, and along comes that pesky market adjustment in crude prices.

Socialism is the main reason Venezuela no longer has a diverse and expansive economy.

The author turns a blind eye to the obvious. Socialism is the root cause of Venezuela’s many woes. To claim otherwise is irresponsible journalism.

He says he doesn't believe that socialism was the cause of the chaos because other socialist countries are not experiencing chaos. He blame the collapse of oil prices.

Using the same logic, why aren't other petroleum producing countries experiencing chaos?

The day-glo skittles-farting unicorns were just around the bend when those wascally capitalists manipulated the price of oil.

Socialism is the problem.
Maduro nationalized the oil business and the talent that operated it left.
His flunkies can’t pump oil.

Yeah, because after Chavez stole what he wanted and Maduro stole what he wanted, there was literally nothing left for anyone else. But that’s not socialism’s fault. If they only had the right guy in charge, things would be going swimmingly. Right? Do I get the participation trophy?

I think that their experience with socialism was a success.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.-Winston Churchill

I'd say they did a damn fine job of spreading the misery.

Did he say that in the article? Anybody that claims the oil price is responsible is smoking their socks. It didn’t help anything, only in the sense it exposed the true nature of their government - a bunch of socialist crooks, same as it ever was.

When I left Venezuela in 1974 the inflation adjusted price of oil was 42 dollars. This was prior to Chavez. Venezuela had a vibrant economy and the stores were full of food. It had a growing middle class and one of the higher standards of living in South America. Today oil is about 46 dollars a barrel.

Venezuela has crashed and burned due Marxism.

Oh yes, it was the evil oil companies and Rex Tillerson. Didn’t have anything to do with the fact that Venezuela nationalized their oil and put stupid politicos to run it, stealing from Exxon.
Not the fact that they took farms and ranches from owners and gave the property to people that didn’t k ow how to farm, making Venezuela an import country for food rather than the export country they were.
shall I go on?

Just who is this author? Some kind of escapee from a lunatic asylum? He needs to eat more anteaters, flamingos and pets before he returns to his socialist paradise where ever he may be.

What socialist country has had any success?

Whatever the cause of Venezuelan implosion, the reason it can’t escape it is because the Cubans are in control.

The state withered away?

The workers control the means of production? But nothing is being produced?

Class justice had unexpected pitfalls?

Inquiring minds already know.
