This wasn't the final everyone expected. Maybe it should have been.
The United States are no stranger to the CONCACAF Gold Cup championship game, having last won the biennial tournament in 2013. After a couple of early hiccups in the group stage, they're on a run of three straight clean sheets and waiting to see whether Clint Dempsey can turn Wednesday night's title match into his own historic moment and become the Yanks' leading career scorer outright.
They'll have to get past a determined upstart to do it, though. But can you really call Jamaica a heavy underdog in this one?

PING!
Happy USMNT Gold Cup Final Game Day! :)
A bit too early to tell but one might begin to wonder if the coaching change from Klinsman to Arena was more of a big deal than not.
CONCACAF...
... it’s all COVFEFE to me!
Bobsled team??? Cool runnin’ mon.
Soccer? Meh.
Classic sports story - one team is the better/favored team, but the other/underdog team seems to be on a roll and playing above themselves, with possibly a “their name is on the Cup”, “destined to win” type of thing going on.
Seems generally these play out in one of two ways - underdog continues hot streak and wins championship, or it all comes crashing down and favorite wins comfortably, maybe even in a semi blowout.
I guess we’ll see tonight. Needless to say I’m hoping for the latter.
I expect a very physical game with lots of contact.
I hope the referees keep control of the game.
The Jamaica goalie may have the hot hands, but watch out for speedster striker, Darren Mattox,
who frequently blew past the defense in the game with Mexico.
Excellent game!
Thanks for the ping.
On to World Cup qualifying!
Nice Win! Good to see the US dominate possession for once.
Well, so much for my prediction, still nice to see the US win.
