Prayers were requested in August and answered for Sophia, daughter of FReeper lilyramone, a sick little girl. Good news. I'll post an excerpt from a recent email from her. She thanks everyone for their prayers and Glory be to God for the answers!
:::Three days before we were to leave for Boston, Sophia's stroke team in Dallas scheduled a meeting with us. When I arrived I was shocked to hear every department (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Hematology, Pediatric Neuro-radiology, etc) told me they advised against the surgeries at this time. They told me she may need these surgeries in the near future...but just not right then.
Then they told me something that changed our minds.
That team had recently met again to review her most recent images to see what Boston Children's saw that they didn't and realized Sophia was self-healing again. For the second time, her brain began healing itself. They can't explain how, just as Texas Children's Hospital told us two years ago when her strokes began and she self-healed her brain at that time. They said her brain is repairing itself again and they couldn't let us go to Boston without first letting us know what they found.
The lead doctor said "there is a small artery behind her left eye that is growing and overcompensating for lack of blood flow from the narrowing. She is rerouting blood flow on her own without surgery. Two years ago she did this and no one knew how, we needed to tell you that she is doing it again."
They talked about the miraculous recovery from two years ago that shocked and baffled everyone and it was happening again. Something bigger is at work!
They said they advised us to hold off so as not to shock her self-repair with surgery. They don't know how she is doing it, they can't explain how she is doing it. They asked us to just let her be the little walking miracle she is a little longer without intervening with major brain surgery a little longer and let her continue to self heal, she wasn't in immediate danger for the surgery that week. They promised to take new images soon and if there is more narrowing of the arteries they would then advise us to seek out Boston for the surgeries at that point.
They mentioned one other thing that was most important. Boston Children's Hospital doesn't know Sophia personally. They have images of her brain but do not know her entire story or her miraculous history. Simply looking at her images and seeing the disease progress in those images to justify surgery is easy but they don't show her entire story. They said the couldn't let us go without telling us personally that none of them would advise the surgeries at that time because they know her, they know her story, they care for her personally and have to speak up on their findings. They said many surgeons see every situation as a nail and they are the hammer that can fix it. It would be easy for them to look at her images and say "hey that is something a surgery could help" and advise that surgery, but Sophia isn't just any patient, she is special, her history has proven she is one of a kind::

FReeper lilyramone had an emergency surgery which has put her out of commission for awhile and she hasn’t had a chance to update Sophia’s website but it will get done when she’s up to it. Right now, Sophia is taking care of her MOM!!! So prayers are definitely needed for her and the whole family. Thank you.
