Update, 10:58 a.m.: President Donald Trump on Monday called the mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed at least 50 people and hospitalized more than 400 "an act of pure evil."
Speaking from the White House, Trump also announced that he will visit Las Vegas on Wednesday, when he will meet with first responders, law enforcement officials and families of victims.

President Donald Trump expressed his "warmest condolences" Monday morning to the victims of a mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip — the deadliest in modern U.S. history — that left more than 50 people dead and sent more than 400 to area hospitals.
"My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!" the president wrote online.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump had been briefed on the mass shooting, and that he would deliver remarks on the tragedy later in the morning.

CAIRO, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a shooting that killed at least 50 people and wounded over 400 in Las Vegas early on Monday, and said the attacker had converted to Islam a few months ago.
“The Las Vegas attack was carried out by a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried it out in response to calls to target states of the coalition,” the group’s news agency Amaq said in reference to the U.S.-led coalition fighting the group in the Middle East.
“The Las Vegas attacker converted to Islam a few months ago,” Amaq added.
FOX NEWS LIVES says officials are investigating if he had converted to ISIS.
President Trump’s short message was heartfelt, prayerful, and inspiring. Of course, there was a handful of no-class reports shouting questions at him afterwards.
I am glad he chose “pure evil” rather than “pure hate”. People like to chatter about hate as something only of the intellect but deny the existence of evil.
Some people love evil. The most chilling words were ascribed to Satan by John Milton in “Paradise Lost” — “Evil be thou my good” — he would achieve his goals by using evil.
They told Trump why this guy did it.
