The Girls creator wrote an op-ed for the New York Times in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations against Weinstein
Lena Dunham has called out men in Hollywood for their deafening silence in the wake the sexual harassment allegations made against Harvey Weinstein.
In a New York Times op-ed, the Girls creator and star claimed that while Weinstein is the most powerful man in Hollywood to be revealed as a predator and his alleged behavior is a microcosm of what has been happening in Hollywood since always and of what workplace harassment looks like for women everywhere.
A liberal-leaning industry, we have been quick to condemn Bill OReilly, Roger Ailes and, yes, the president. We do not accept sexual abuse as locker room talk,' she wrote, citing President Donald Trumps defense of his graphic, sexist comments in a 2005 Access Hollywood video. So why the deafening silence, particularly from the industrys men, when one of our own is outed as having a nasty taste for humiliating and traumatizing women?
While actors Seth Rogen and Mark Ruffalo and directors James Gunn, Scott Derrickson, and Kevin Smith have spoken out about Weinstein in recent days, much of the criticism against the former executive has been expressed by prominent women in Hollywood, including Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Judi Dench, and Julianne Moore. Late-night comedy shows hosted by men avoided the topic on Friday, and reports surfaced that Saturday Night Live cut Weinstein references from Weekend Update and a sketch because they werent playing well in dress rehearsal. (John Oliver did take on the Weinstein allegations during Last Week Tonight on Sunday.)

Translation: She ****** his **** once and is regretful.
I just hope that she’s not related to Jeff.
It’s not like he raped Lena’s sister.
At least not “Rape-Rape.”
If Weinstein seduced Lena, I would denounce him immediately! For bad taste, if nothing else.....
I love it when leftists attack other leftists.
“Is it sexist to call Lena a bimbo? “
Just a garden vriety hag to be. The years will not be kind to this specimen.
Sorry, I think you’re wrong. Harvey’s standards were too high to include Lena.
Lena, I will do you one better.
I denounce both you and Harvey!
No, but it is insulting to self-respecting bimbos to compare them to her.
Didn't know he had any female puppets in his repertoire.
I thought harvey was a despicable halfweed, but now dunham is making me reexamine...
I’m waiting for someone to attack Lena for not attacking Weinstein before. She’s so high and mighty that EVERYONE knew he was a crook and yet she said nothing and I’m willing to bet tried to get in his good graces too.
She’s a hypocrite and needs to be called out on it.
Considering that she’s an admitted child molester, she’s awfully judgemental.
Lol. How about women denouncing him? How about everyone?
So why the deafening silence, particularly from the industrys men, when one of our own is outed as having a nasty taste for humiliating and traumatizing women?
This is another illustration that “the issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution”, women’s rights, racism, yada, yada, all are thrown under the bus when it is convenient to push the agenda.
And what is the agenda? Gaining power to force everyone who disagrees with you to do what *you* want. No limits.
They think themselves gods.
“I denounce Harvey Weinstein.”
There, Lena, happy now?
...(I also denounce child molesters such as yourself).
Actually I would bet she’s just wishing he’d hit on her
She’s just upset Harvey never killed a potted plant for her.
Yep - my post-election schadenfreude glow is renewed. :-)
