Joy Reid Tears Into Pastor Mark Burns For Defending Roy Moore: ‘Aren’t You a Moral Leader?’
Mediaite ^ | November 18, 2017 | Justin Baragona

Remember Pastor Mark Burns? He’s the black Trump-supporting pastor who tweeted out a cartoon of Hillary Clinton in blackface. Following that firestorm, he memorably walked out of a CNN interview last September after he was confronted over exaggerating and lying on his bio.

Well, he’s back, as he’s been tasked with appearing on TV to defend Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore in the wake of the teen sex abuse scandal. And as you’d imagine, his appearances have been off the rails.

This morning, he showed up on MSNBC’s AM Joy and really got into it with host Joy Reid. Appearing as part of a panel to discuss the latest allegations against Moore — the ex-judge is now being accused by at least eight women — Burns noted that morality” wasn’t the only quality that makes a good leader,” seemingly giving Moore a pass regarding the allegations.

“Hold on just a second. One moment, hold on, hold on,” Reid exclaimed. “I’m going to let you back in. You’re not a lawyer, you’re not a judge. You’re not here to judge whether or not in a court of law Roy Moore would be found guilty after nine women accused him of sexually molesting children.”

She continued, “We have you on because you’re a pastor. What your job is, in theory, is to provide a moral framework for the people who go to your church and listen to you. How can you say that in your moral framework, you’re not here to adjudicate the case, but you’re saying that morality is not the only important thing. Aren’t you a moral leader? Like isn’t that what you’re supposed to be advocating for, for moral leadership?”

According to Burns, his job as a pastor if an accuser came to him to be counseled is “to first discover what do we need to do to start the healing process within that individual.”

“Roy Moore isn’t asking for redemption or healing,” Reid snapped back. “He’s denying he did it.”

After Burns responded that right now we need to ask ourselves if the women are more credible than a person who has been in public service for many years, an incredulous Reid asked him if he was saying he didn’t find the accusers credible.

“I do find the fact that Roy Moore has served faithfully for over 40 years publicly in public office and these women had plenty of opportunity, plenty of opportunities, Joy, to come out and it is suspicious,” he said. “I think the great people of Alabama are realizing that, which is why the majority of Alabamians are still going to vote for Roy Moore, even the governor, even the women that stepped up and said we’re still supporting Roy Moore, because their understanding, it is extremely suspicious that this is all coming out after he’s become the candidate.”

Reid turned to Republican strategist Sarah Rumpf to respond to Burns saying that Moore should be believed because the women accusing Moore aren’t well-known or famous, causing Burns to object to the way Reid was framing his position. Reid and Rumpf informed him that he had his chance and it was now Rumpf’s turn to talk.

“The idea that we’re going to discredit these women because they don’t have the prominence of Roy Moore,” Rumpf stated. “That is how Roy Moore and Harvey Weinstein and Bill O’Reilly and all the rest of these predators have been getting away with it for so long because they were in a position of power and the women were afraid of social and professional and cultural consequences.”

“That’s not what I said,” Burns objected.

True moral leaders respect the foundation stone “innocent until proven guilty”.

Looks like Joy would argue with Jesus - “you let that woman off without condemning her when she was caught in the act??” “Aren’t you supposed to be a moral leader??”

Yeah there’s that.

Some people should read up on the fallacy of too few alternatives. One possibility is that Roy actually DIDN’T do what’s he’s accused of.

When Bill Clinton was caught they had a bunch of pastors defending and counseling him. Gordon MacDonald, who had affairs in his past, was prominent. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/daily/clinpastor0928.htm
And on 9/12/98 The Washington post wrote this regarding Bill Clinton’s prayer breakfast,
“With tearing eyes and a trembling voice, President Clinton succeeded yesterday in convincing a room full of religious leaders that he was genuinely sorry about his affair with Monica S. Lewinsky and embarrassed about the way he handled it.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/ministers091298.htm
The media was very forgiving!

Accusations are not PROOF.

Evidence is proof.

Joy Reid should figure out, she and the enemedia are like the boy who cried wolf.

She’s not just mad because the pastor wouldn’t condemn Judge Moore, she’s mad because many people don’t believe their lies anymore. Fake news, lies, deceptions, (see my tag line), the enemedia did this to themselves. It’s amazing to see them meltdown like this.

These people need to get reacquainted with early grade school English Vocabulary!

Hello Out There!

An “allegation (’s)” is (or are) not synonymous with “guilty”!

Man, why is this SO hard for these people!

As well, if a person pays off an accuser to get the accuser off of their back, it is often interpreted as guilt!

When a person pays a speeding ticket, even if they were not guilty, the jurisdiction considers it legally the same as admitting guilt!

As such, if Roy Moore were to step out of this race, seeding and subjecting this Alabama Senate seat to the left wing candidate, the majority of the Alabama electorate and their views will not be represented, and Roy Moore will, in the eyes of the mass media, “demonstrate guilt”!

This is precisely what the national media will do! They would say Roy Moore stepping out of the race was an admission of his own guilt!

They are literally demanding Roy Moore slap his supporters in the face, and “admit” guilt by resigning!

This is total DUMBTARD stuff coming out of the left wing DC UNIPARTY and media!

Moore is accused of dating young women. All above the age of consent.

Democrats, including Moore’s opponent, and Joy Reid, all think that 62 million dead babies ARE NOT ENOUGH. I.e., all Democrats are psychopathic Satanists.

Which is more “immoral”?

basic criminology/investigation of an incident
who had or has:
motive
means
opportunity
M.O. Modus Operandi usual pattern of doing something..would have shown up years ago not now and now all stories except for dating, a few kisses and hugging are outliers not part of his proven pattern.

consider the source- reliable in the past or not? axe to grind? troubled past? economic problems-susceptible to monetary influence?

what is consciousness of guilt? (like you said if Moore quits he will look guilty) He has pushed back showing he is not afraid of the truth. He has challenged the note and signature, evidence of innocence on his part.

he said she said is not reliable without being at least contemporaneous and follows common sense and supported by evidence. Accusations about something that happened 40 years ago and now near important election automatically suspect.

the latest from Allred purported to document “opportunity” (time, place). Allred should have had the signature authenticated before presenting it. Even Dan RAther tried to authenticate Killian documents. Allred backtracking and if she fails to allow book to be examined will show IMO consciousness of guilt. An important election is on the line and Allred has been put on notice and failure to stop this now and issue a retraction could cost her 10’s of millions of dollars, challenge to her law license, and the name Mudd. (worse than she has now.) It turns out failure to do so or proven fraud may cause everything including other accusations to be viewed in a brighter light. It has started people questioning the accusations, something many people failed to do-MSM. McConnell, McCain, Cruz Ryan -what is their motive to pressure quitting without any real evidence.. swamp business as usual? shameful!

The two colored inks showing up on CNN how did that happen? Filter on camera? Divine intervention? Has the creator had enough of this baloney?

Does any man know any man who is not dead drunk or has a knife or gun to threaten the female or has beaten her into submission reckless enough to try and put his manhood into an angry female’s mouth? There was no report of threats to alleged victim. Defies common sense, and Judge Roy Moore is not stupid then or now. Means? possible but doubtful.
