The Christian Case for Border Security
The Narrow Road ^ | Shane Kastler

In Old Testament times, building walls around cities was commended as a common sense means of national/ municipal security. Invading armies would rout Israel if they did not build walls and raise armies to protect themselves. One might say, “Why didn't they just trust God?” It goes without saying that God would and often DID protect Israel supernaturally. But that doesn't mean they were exempt from doing the hard work of securing their property. God often uses natural means to fulfill his supernatural purpose on the earth.

King David prayed to God, “By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem.” (Psalm 51:18) And lest we be mistaken, the “walls” around Jerusalem were PHYSICAL walls for protection from enemies. These walls didn't show a lack of faith, but rather the presence of common sense. What nation will survive without borders? What nation will survive without walls? What nation will survive without armed security? Old Testament Israel had a vast army, skilled in warfare. Why would any earthly nation not have this? But some would question the Christian relevance of this. Is it “un-Christian” for America to have border security? Should we encourage unchecked immigration for the good of those who seek to enter? Even when some of those entering, do not seek our good?

At this point, I should probably point out that many Christians confuse the Church with the government. The Church has a role, indeed a command, to proclaim the gospel of Christ to all the world. If immigrants come to our nation, we should tell them of Christ and pray for their conversion. This is the church's job. But it is not the Federal government's job. According to Romans 13, a government's job is to safeguard the security and the liberty of it's people.

Do not let this argument ever devolve into the subject of RACE. Racism is not of God. Racism is of the Devil. We are all one human race originating from Adam and Eve. Bearing the image of GOD. The United States is predicated on that very self-evident concept: hence the words “ALL men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights...”

The topic at hand is not one of race, but of nationhood and sovereignty — concepts which are wholly ordained by God.

“We will pursue this beautiful vision—a world of strong, sovereign, and independent nations, each with its own cultures and dreams, thriving side-by-side in prosperity, freedom, and peace...” ~ President Trump

“When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.” ~ Deuteronomy 32:8

There is also the concept of Law and Order. And the role of governments to secure both. And when we secure the citizens of our own country, we hold other governments accountable to do the same. So if anything, even the citizens on the OTHER side of the "Wall" will benefit.

Regarding Europe. Europe is not the "European Union" a pseudo-union forged under secular, bureaucratic auspices. Europe will be strengthened when each individual country reclaims their distinctive identity, language, culture, and spiritual roots. Each country's unique, historical (Catholic/Protestant/Orthodox et al.) prism into Christian reality. Which is why movements like "Brexit" will actually save, not break Europe.

"Spiritual" identity is the key. Because nationalism rooted in Darwinist concepts of racial supremacy is what led to the World Wars and Europe's self-destruction in the first place.

As Christians, we are to help our own family first.

Then Christians nears us, then Christians far from us, then others.

Non-Christians are last on the list.

Certainly if the need is great and immediate, we should help.

But we are not commanded to help everyone everywhere.

We should not help those who refuse to work.

There is no command to allow alien non-Christians to take over the nation.

This link seems a pretty good summation:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

John 10:1

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

In fact, just read the entire chapter. It is not that long.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber!” John 10:1

Conflating world affairs with salvational affairs is not going to produce good policy in either.

Or conversely, if you say you’re going full Christian why pick and choose?

Secular “liberals” conflate world affairs with heaven affairs.

The problem seems to be that “conservatives” are trying to do that too.

I believe he real answer, if God grants success to it, is a combination of evangelism, foreign missions, and “ordinary” law enforcement. We don’t need any new rules. We just need to quit winking at the old ones.

It’s hard to be utterly wooden about this. The divine answer would be something like “as opportunity and means and genuine desire make possible.” Nobody is helped with the intention that he or she would then always be selfish. Not family in the room, not the evangelized person way off in Timbuktu. It’s set up by the Lord to be a chain reaction of divine blessings, inasmuch as the souls to do it with are placed by the Lord.

There isn’t any “Christian country” in the bible sense. There are a lot of lands with significant Christian presence and influence inside them.

It may be possible to even get a divine blessing of a lot of Christians in a land by praying the Lord that He would destine those souls in. And by being willing to send the evangelists out to meet them. The spiritual equation balances just like a chemical equation might. Behind the scenes, it is by divine plan.
