Really? Where are these people who are “freaking out” due to open carry? I’d sure like to meet them. I keep on hearing about them but never see them.
I generally open carry, and I've only had two places give me trouble. One was one of the malls in Dallas, kicked us out (not posted but a security guard noticed me walking around after a half-hour or so), actually had the guard walk us to the door. Then Maple and Motor (burger place, not posted either) actually had the owner come up halfway through ordering food and boot us. Disappointing, cause their burgers are actually decent. Kinda miss them :p
Other than that, I've had a couple places ask me to cover it, but nothing major.

I’ve had even fewer issues. I got booted from a mall 12 plus years ago. Most malls stealth post. The signs have no legal impact here in VA, but a private property owner can boot you for any reason. A greeter at a box store gave me some grief a few years back but I was able to go in anyway. I no longer patronize that store for other reasons so I don’t know if that was an anomaly or what have you.
Texas just got legal OC and a lot of news about it so I’d expect more awareness. OC has never really been illegal in VA (Jim Crow laws notwithstanding) so it just hasn’t been all that remarkable.
