People, en masse, have largely forgotten God, and without that consciousness, people will be narrowly and selfishly venal. Efforts to do the longsighted, honorable thing will simply get hooted at and disregarded at best.

What can the would-be righteous do? The only answer I can see is to spread more consciousness of God. Because the American system wasn’t built to work around any other kind of consciousness.

Amen, the Constitution assumed Christian belief. It was never meant to have to be enforced by law enforcement, but by individual morality which no longer exists.

Agreed, but I think we’re called upon to do more. To be active Christians in spite of it. What we’re facing is in my view not all that historically unique. The early days of the church, the dark ages, communism in east Europe. Take your pick. We survived all and in many cases thrived despite it.

I’m reading a very good book that is looking at strategies for a post Christian nation. It’s called “The Benedict Option”. I recommend it.
