Ivanka Trump and Marco Rubio have prepared a family leave plan. The plan would allow parents to take extended paid leave for the birth of a child. They would pay for the plan by offsetting a person's future social security earnings instead of forcing corporations to pay for it. When Bill Clinton ran for president in the '90s, Democrats wanted paid family leave. Hillary Clinton campaigned for it. Barack Obama wanted it. But now that Donald Trump has presented a plan, Democrats think it is the worst thing ever.

This is so pathetic. Paid by money that has not been paid in and may never be paid in. Assuming Social security even still exists in the future then these people will be crying for a handout when they reach old age and have already used up all their social security. Pure socialist crap.

Doesn’t sound like it. SSA is not welfare. Try trying to collect it if you didn’t work much and can’t claim dependency. It doesn’t sound very smart, but the present value of the future income stream may be a lot more than the opposite, so it may be worth looking at.

men do not have to take "parental" leave...maternity leave is as much for the mother to recover physically as for the baby to start out in life...daddies, God bless them, but their bodies did not put on 30 pounds, and then push a baby out a small little orifice...
