Making Ontario Sane Again

‘Make America Great Again’, as President Trump saw again in Pennsylvania last night, because it will be a sea of blue hats, marked with the words, ‘Make Ontario Sane Again’.

Yo, President Donald Trump and team, notice the similarities between what happened in the Province of Ontario last night and what happened to you on November 8, 2016?

Against incredible odds studiously stacked against him, populist Doug Ford became the new leader of the newly resurrected Ontario Progressive Conservative Party on March 11, 2018.

Is this good, bad, or could have been worse?

“Make Ontario Sane Again”?

That will NEVER happen! Too many immigrants in the (not so) GTA who live (well) off of gubmint handouts. Combine that with lefty supporting strongholds like Hamilton and N. ON, and the Lieberals and NDP have a lock on power into the long term.

Even AB succumbed to the socialist siren call. We are stuck with them for at least another 415 days (possibly even 445 days)... We have too many FOTB who think that ‘whitey’ owes them a living, so will continue to vote for whomever offers them the most money/benefits.

That is the brother of the ex-mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, who was kicked out for drug use (caught on camera no less).

Most people thought that was it for the Ford brothers (who were like Frasier and Niles).

I guess not.

AB did not succumb to anything.

If you add up all the Conservative votes they were by far the large majority. The part that wasn’t good was the fact that there was two Conservative parties, and the vote was split because people were mad at the PC’s and rightfully so.

It was sheer blind luck the ndp got in. Now the conservative parties have merged to one, it won’t be repeated.

I forgot to mention. Even when Alberta is conservative again, they still need to separate from Canada because otherwise nothing will ever change. We’ll keep being exploited for our cash while the rest live off our backs.

Don’t toss all the immigrants in one basket. The Chinese and Indian communities are entrepreneurial and more socially conservative than the average traditional Canadian. They have been increasingly getting involved in politics with all three major parties, because they want their own representatives. I agree that in Canada we will never turn back the clock, as successive governments have ensured that multiculturalism is a permanent fixture now in Canada. Most of these groups have not assimilated at all into Canadian society. They have each carved out neighbourhoods in the larger Canadian cities where they have their own banks, restaurants, grocery stores, temples, lawyers, realtors, etc., etc. But it has ensured that no single group has dominance. Generally people get along civilly, but any further increase in muslim immigration could poison the well for everyone.

Progressive conservatives are for the most part what US democrats are. So you can imagine how leftist their Liberal party must be.

Does the Canadian constitution allow for provinces seceding?

Sure does.

Maybe we should see if Trump wants a 51st state. Overnight we’d be the richest most energy independent country on the face of the earth.

Well, then, come on down! Bring Manitoba and Saskatchewan with you. There is more commonality in culture between US border states and their immediate western Canada provinces, than between states/provinces with their east/west neighbors already. Shoot, we’ll even offer to make California join Canada. You could use the warmer weather and we’d offset our global warming.

Twitchy and Julian in Sault Ste Marie...

Doug Ford is a great pick.... nothing much could be worse than the Liberal government that is currently in power and I suspect that Doug is just the right person to take on the public service unions, the hopeless 'green energy act' that is taking the joint into bankruptcy and cronyism that has gone on between leftist businesses and the government for the past 15 years.

Not sure he was kicked out. He was running for re-election as mayor, when he had to stop/suspend his campaign because of his cancer.

He died shortly thereafter.

Council was gunning for him, but there really was nothing they could do

>>Not sure he was kicked out. He was running for re-election as mayor, when he had to stop/suspend his campaign because of his cancer.<<

It was so strange (I was in GTA at the time) — yes I recall him saying not only would he not step down but he declared his candidacy. I SO wanted to get a “Ford for Mayor” button or sticker but he ended his candidacy before I could.

>>He died shortly thereafter.<<

I didn’t know that had happened until I did a Google search for this thread. Sad — that dude had stones if nothing else. As polarizing as Trump if people want a comparison.

It was so strange coming home to California (I think that was when I was there) and seeing Ford on the front pages of OUR papers too LOL.

RIP.
