I was a Cruz guy in the Primaries. I'm also concerned about the Omnibus pending package that Trump promised to veto, and then signed, the same day... but... those going from Trump worship to Never Trump in a day have been just silly. Give things a chance to play out. Some thing take more than a day to develop. Now there's this:

Bottom line, 14 months into his first term, Trump is finally putting together the team of leaders he should have had in the first place. Again, better late than never.

As I have said from the beginning, since he won the nomination, that Trump seems to have a singular talent for picking exceptional people and letting them do the job with minimal input or supervision. That's real leadership, instead of the usual micromanagers we get, or the cowards who blame their hirelings instead of taking responsibility themselves (The Buck Stops Here). I was hoping to watch this skill in action from Day One under Trump... and I've been shell-shocked at how many bad picks he made for the first year. Maybe he has finally remembered one of his best talents, and is finally putting it to good use... but I really wish he had been at his best in this regard from the beginning. Let's hope this trend only continues to accelerate.

I am sure those who were against Trump upon signing of the omnibeast were Russian bots!

“that Trump promised to veto

Trump never “promised” to veto the bill. Go back and read his twitter feed.

I think Rush Limbaugh has the correct take on this.

Even as a world renowned businessman, there are only so many qualified people for these positions you even know, let alone who can be successfully vetted, and then who will take the job.

Just FYI and not bragging, but Steve Bannon asked me if I wanted to head Library of Congress. I said “Hell no.” I’m not an administrator, and I hate Washington. And that’s a nuthin’ job. So you can imagine how very qualified people would be hard to find.

I am NOT comparing Trump to “nazis” but think back ot 1946. There was a ban on Nazis holding any power in Germany-—yet Patton found he couldn’t even run the water and electricity plants with non-nazis cuz either they had been killed or left 7-10 years earlier.

So, think of the nazis as the Swamp. Unable to find all the “loyal” but smart Trumpers, he had to turn to recommendations from inside the Swamp and that was first and foremost Priebus. But McMaster came with recommendations from everyone: I recommended him, Victor Hanson recommended him, and, according to Bannon, “so did 50 other top conservatives.”

Bottom line, it has taken a while to get rid of insiders and slowly find Trumpers willing and able to do the job.

I’ll take Trump on his worst day vs Hitlery on her best day.

He said he would consider “vetoing” it to make it clear that he was pissed at the treachery of Ryan and McConnell - he made that even clearer during the Presser when he threw down the gauntlet...hard to veto something that had a veto-proof majority so the most he could have done was not sign and let the government close down for 10 days which would have been leveraged by those who want him gone...only needed a handful of votes in the House to get to the super-majority and already had enough for a super-majority in the Senate....if he had vetoed, they would have shoved it down his throat.
