What many citizens and legislators do not understand is that the federal government has no right to prevent any law-abiding citizen from owning or possessing ANY firearm. The entire argument for gun control is built upon a false premise. The second amendment is not about self-defense from criminals.
As unpleasant as it may be for this modern society to say out loud, historically and constitutionally speaking, the right of the people to keep and bear arms has always been a right to protect yourself from those in power who want to enslave you. If America wants to engage in a real factual debate on the right to keep and bear arms, then it must be approached from the proper perspective.
The Constitution and its history are unequivocally clear on this.
Here is a short, 2nd Amendment history lesson so we can defend our Rights from becoming government-bestowed privileges.
Everything we need to know about the 2nd Amendment was explained by our founders in the years 1787-1788. Lesson one comes from George Mason, referred to as “Father of the Bill of Rights.” Mason first explains the REASON we are to bear arms, and guess what; it has nothing to do with hunting and skeet shooting…or fighting attackers.

Agreed in principle, however, long before government was to be instituted, man possessed thre right to protect himself and his against any and all sorts of crimes against himself, his family and his property.
Remember, government are created to protect the rights of all citizens/stakeholders, but the ends of government are not always true. Then, man has the right and need to protect himself from his government
Remembering that it would take hundreds of centuries for American criminals, even with a few Adam Lanzas and Nikolas Cruzes thrown in, to equal the millions murdered by governments that disarmed its’ citizens in just the last one.

The so called Brady background check changed a right to a privilege. You have to ask and be granted the government's permission to buy a firearm. To exercise a right you don't have to ask anyone's permission.
Very good. It also lays out the reason we must go on offense and attack and force total repeal of the NFA of 1934 and the GCA of 1968. Our government has full automatic weapons yet we have allowed them to ban these arms from the American people. The force must be equal but it has not been since we allowed the effective repeal of the second amendment with the passage of the national firearms act of 1934. All gun control is rooted in this first sweeping law. We must be armed as our government is armed.
Not long ago, after the Parkland shooting, when there were many 2A discussions going on a FReeper posted something i’ll probably never forget. I wish i could remember who it was, and i kick myself for not replying to this day. It went something like this...

Then it would be justifiable to go about killing a certain kind of people, who would become tyrants, and the forces they might control without regard to what they have actually done or attempted. In other words, kill people for what they might do. I don't believe that's what the Second Amendment "is about".

The Second Amendment is absolute, but they will never teach that in School.
The result of propaganda masquerading as Education in this Country will only hasten the death of the Republic.
How many of you have an old 1982 copy of this government book, THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. I have one. It has been suppressed since it’s publication. The court cases from the early 1800s are worth their weight in gold. This is only part of it as the pro and anti-gun rebuttals are not included.

I went through my history to that fateful day hoping it was me.

Because we don’t like to talk that way, but the left does. The left constantly thinks that the second amendment is there to kill their precious government officials. Dan Malloy thought so and told us so in front of cameras even if it was accidentally.

The Second Amendment is a warning to any would-be tyrants we the people retain the right and means, when all peaceful attempts at redress fail, to shoot them...
