GOP lawmakers pressure Rosenstein to hand over Clinton docs

Two of President Trump’s top allies in Congress turned up the heat on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein this week — warning him that he could be impeached if he doesn’t hand over documents about Hillary Clinton. GOP Reps. Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Jim Jordan of Ohio — leading members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus — put the squeeze on the man overseeing the investigation into Russian election sabotage during a meeting at the Justice Department on Monday, the Washington Post reported. The pair want to revive the investigation into the former secretary of state’s email server, and are demanding documents related to the FBI’s probe, which concluded that there was no basis for criminal charges against Clinton. And what do think should the US government reopen the investigation into the former secretary of state’s email server? However i'm afraid that we faced the situation when criminals'll go free just because the judge supports the same party.

Trump needs to order him to turn over the doc’s to an equal branch of government. If he does not comply, fire him for insubordination. And then Trump should apologize to congress for what his employee did.

Why do you give Sessions a complete pass? Are you forgetting that Sessions is supposed to be the AG, and Rosenstein is supposed to be his deputy?

If Sessions is the halfway decent person his fans claim, then it shouldn’t be like pulling teeth to get Hillary docs. But with Sessions in charge, everything is delay, delay, delay. Eventually it comes down to threats, and then a smattering of redacted documents are finally released.

Not giving him a pass at all. But Trump should order his AG, DOJ, whatever to comply fully with an EQUAL branch of government.

I think when Sessions is done and walks out the front door....he’ll be evaluated and considered the most dismal Attorney General of the past century. Maybe he had some talent back in the 1980s....but his performance level just isn’t there. Once Trump wins 2020....he needs to retire Sessions and move on.

Agree with your assessment, completely. The question is, will Grassley and the other swampers allow Trump to retire Sessions? Trump already spoke of replacing Sessions, and the Senators had a collective fit. They said if Trump removes Sessions there will be hell to pay.

I think Sessions is there till the end of 2020. I think Cruz, will be appointed into the position, and hold it until some seat in the Supreme Court comes up...to be appointed there.

The card that Trump holds....is that he could appoint another second special prosecutor on his own without Sessions involved, with his own instructions to limit the focus of the individual. The Senate (particularly the GOP crowd) can’t do much about that, and it’ll keep the focus on the FBI/DOJ players, and maybe even the Hillary email server episode.
