More Americans work in or near Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City than any other U.S. metro area, but that’s not where the fastest job growth is. For that look to states with low taxes and those that produce fuel for your car and home.

It’s the third straight quarter that Midland has led the U.S. in job gains, reflecting its prominence in oil and gas production.

Also in the top 10 counties for job growth were Montgomery, Texas (5.9%), Calcasieu, La. (5.8%) and Weld, Colo. (5.2%). All three are big in energy production.

In the Midwest, the area around Elkhart, Ind., posted the fastest employment growth. Hiring rose 5.4% to put the county in fifth place....

Net job creation is a better measure. Adding 10,000 jobs in Chicago is not that significant maybe 1%. Whereas an increase of 10,000 in a smaller city would be huge.

I’m not surprised about Elkhart. It always has a rapid growth rate followed by a rapid decline. It’s a harbinger of the economy.

If you're used to the scenery in Wisconsin you're probably never going to like any part of West Texas.

I do like Ft. Davis, Marathon, Alpine, and Big Bend area. Even Sonora, Big Spring and San Angelo are ok. Just not Midland.
