Red Flag Gun Laws Without Due Process–Whispers Of Mental Instability Will Close Doors To Healthcare

The Massachusetts House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would give judges the power to seize weapons from individuals reported as a danger to themselves or others. It would allow family members, roommates, current and former romantic partners, and police officials to petition a court to take away a gun owner’s weapons for a year.

Of course, objections by the National Rifle Association and local gun owners have filled the air without recognition by supporters of the bill. The state Senate, controlled by Democrats, and Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, are giddy with their newly minted power in passing “red flag” legislation

The NRA has labeled the bill as a gun grab. It is clear this legislation will “allow firearms to be seized from individuals following baseless accusations without proper due process,” the NRA announced. But most American people do not need anyone to tell them this, as we know without a doubt what this means to our Second Amendment Right – we are losing ground in maintaining what we hold dear.

Then they should get off on an “insanity plea” when they shoot the gun grabbers, shouldn’t they?

And we already have the Lautenberg Act. This just goes farther on the front end.

No due process, and prison time for perjury to the police or to a judge has been COMPLETELY eliminated.

The Gestapo & KGB had five informants for each agent. This will create an army of disgruntled creeps bent on revenge. With nothing more than a phone call.

FASCISM!

Way to go. This law will probably break all of these.
2nd amendment. “ to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”
5th amendment. “Deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law”
6th amendment. “Informed of nature and cause of accusation, to be confronted with witnesses against him”
7th amendment. “The right of trial by jury”

All the accused would probably see is a court order, if that.

Let me guess:

After the year is up you have to sue the city to get the guns back. Maybe $10,000 to recover your guns.

As long as they give them due process the Constitution allows it. It will be interesting to see if it works.

FRiend, we’ve been on the Obama s***list for years.

But it will IMO take having a Dem in the Oval Office to start rounding up FReepers. But get this - in Britain they are right now knocking on doors & arresting people posting or texting anything critical of Islam. And look at the arrest of Tommy Robinson - complete gag order news blackout and the Fleet Street tabloids normally devoted to uncovering Royal family scandals haven’t raised a peep since they know the London police will be at their door.

Then again, old chap, those Limeys don’t have aught in the way of firearms, now do they?

Meanwhile, gun sales here continue to skyrocket.

Secret ex parte hearing without the owner’s presence or even knowledge, and complete immunity for the snitch even if he lies?

WHAT due process!!?

If that’s the case then it should be declared unconstitutional. But they can just change the law to give real due process. And if I recall the Supreme Court has ruled that a hearing after the fact is acceptable in some situations. I suspect we’re going to see more of these laws. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. If they can find a way to restrain the animals then the honest gun owner will not get the blame every time these incidents happen. Those of us who have guns have an interest in reducing these incidents. But of course if it doesn’t work then we’re right back where we started.

Oh cr@p! Never heard of the “thirty aught six”?

As in 30-06, meaning cartridge cal .30, model of 1906?

Am I that old!? Cue up the Titanic dance music!

BTW, the years of the first decade were referred to “nineteen aught two”, “nineteen aught six”, and so forth.
