LinkedIn - Big Brother is Watching
LinkedIn ^ | June 15, 2018 | Vanity

LinkedIn: The mission of LinkedIn is simple: connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful.

Several years ago I joined LinkedIn more to try to connect with former Army buddies, not trying to get a job. Got an email from them today that "You appeared in 3 searches this week"

The searchers were:

Alabama Department of Mental Health and Veterans Evaluation Services

Stuff like this causes conspiracy theories and paranoia. Why are the VA and Alabama Mental Health searching LinkedIn? Possible gun control comes to mind. As far as I know I have not initiated any recent contact with the VA, and no contact with the Alabama Government.

Big Brother is watching!

Any other Freepers seeing this? Maybe it's just me having tripped some trigger somewhere (e.g., international travel)

LinkedIn is something you register with the sole purpose of observing other members of LinkedIn. After all, they do pop up from time to time in random Google searches!

But if you register for real, you are just a chump!

Just like facebook, LinkedIn is full of information freely given by its members. This information can be searched by everyone....including for nefarious purposes.

I would not put it past eveil, deep state government officials at any level to try and use this information to force further leftist ideology onto us.

Like google it appears they may have members who haven’t joined who have 0-1 connections, and sometimes no information on them and that they have these members there as Zuckerburg said, “for security reasons”.

Uhh--I don't know--maybe because they are hiring?

The LinkedIn CEO and founder is one of the most outspoken anti-trump Executives in America.

Have you searched for people with the same last name as yours? You’ll probably get dozens of hits.

The state of Florida has allowed voter information to be displayed by 3rd party on the internet. It’s a huge invasion of privacy. Name, age, political party, etc.

Yeah, really.... It is a job recruiting and job seeking, not a site for chatting with friends.

I’m in linked-in. There’s several reasons why you would turn up.

1) You have the same name as somebody they were searching for.

2) They were looking to hire somebody, and you appeared on their list of contacts.

Now, if some law enforcement organization was looking for you in the context of an investigation, their query would NOT appear on the list of people searching your name.

Yes, I’ve received that email and yes, I went to see who it was searching for me. Two random companies in another part of this country in different business sectors than my profession. It’s nothing more than a marketing email. Ignore and Delete it the next time you see it in your inbox.

You said that because you are out to get me.

Maybe you fit the criteria they were looking for, to some degree, in a job search?

It was probably individuals employees who worked there.

I do a lot of IT consulting for Alabama Mental Health and other state agencies, and I have to confess many of them are idiots. I’m grateful, though, because they need my help more...

I see them goofing off most of the time in their workspaces. Surfing the Internet, Face Book, Reddit, etc. Making calls on their cell phones, chatting it up with each other, going and coming on/off breaks, long lunches, etc.

“Uhh—I don’t know—maybe because they are hiring?”

My best skill listed is beer drinking. Now that would probably be someone productive for them, but I would not see them actually looking for that skill.

Just because I am paranoid does not mean no one is out to get me.

Not me. I’m a contractor in IT. It is where other IT people can see my resume and my “filtered” information on myself (my Facebook page is highly locked down).

I NEVER observe other members of LinkedIn for one simple reason: They see that I’ve observed them. I can check out people on facebook all I want and they don’t know I’ve looked. :)

I suspect this guy is getting those “looks” because there is some keyword in his profile that causes them to check him our as a possible candidate for a job.

LinkedIn now is of course owned by Microsoft, who are dishing every shred of info to the feds.
