Salon Writer Recommends Shunning Friends and Family Who Support Trump
Louder With Crowder ^ | June 15, 2018 | Corey Stallings

Here’s a shocker. Leftists aren’t all too crazy about riders of the Trump train. Progressive types are known for denying MAGA people real estate transactions. Banning them from their concerts. Attempting to crater their skulls with 2x4s.

Then there’s this. A writer over at salon is recommending you shun all of your Trump-loving friends and family until they repent. Yeah, for reals:

"If you have friends or relatives who support Donald Trump you should confront them. Explain to them that they are complicit with Trump’s cruelty and sadism. Then communicate that you will no longer speak with them, nor will you offer them emotional, financial or other types of support until they denounce Donald Trump and what he represents — and make amends through speech and action. This will not be easy. Doing what is right rarely is. But it is necessary.

Some will protest, saying that you can’t know what is in a person’s heart based on who they vote for. This is untrue. Voting and other types of political behavior are in many ways actions which are based more on emotion than they are reason. As such, a vote for Trump and continued support for him is a clear signal to a person’s deep and sincerely held values and beliefs."

Well, leftism is starting to sound a lot less like a political philosophy and more like a shady cult.

Yes, leftists must shun the “non-believers.” At least until they turn away from their devilish ways and follow the true path. Until they trade their MAGA hats for Che Guevara t-shirts. Replace their stars-and-stripes bumper sticker with a “Coexist” one. Increase their soy intake tenfold.

This is the emerging world of the left, where merely having a different opinion is grounds for the cold shoulder. Even if the opinion-haver is a blood relative.

Pathetic.

Would this work with your Boss, I wonder?

I don’t shun anyone for political views. If they’re really obnoxious about them, I might shun them for obnoxiousness though.

Expected nothing less from hard core socialist.

Makes it easier to send friends to the gulag when one is no longer “friends”

Plus it easier to “rat’ them out because one has the “inside dope’ on them.

And call them lazy ignorant POSs who just voted for Trump because they want a job.

This does happen.
It’s happened in my own family, ever since I had a visceral reaction to someone’s Shrine to Obama photo collage on their bedroom walls. I stared bug-eyed, I laughed and then I faked having a heart attack, seizing up and dropping to the carpeted bedroom floor. I thought I was being funny. They didn’t. Yes, Mogan-David dinner wine was involved.

...nor will you offer them emotional, financial or other types of support...

I love how they assume the Trump supporters are getting financial and other support from the Trump-haters. It's far more likely to be the other way around.

My large Wisconsin trump loving family was chastised by a nephew and his wife who had moved to boston.
They sent us a nasty postcard at Christmas. FU Matt and Melanie.

Sounds like something an authoritarian religious cult would do.

Speaking of which, is the shunning transitive?

That is, suppose one is not a Trump supporter but does not agree with shunning? Is that enough to be shunned?

Reminds me of the admonition to Christians to not associate with a professing Christian who isn’t living the Christian life and not responding to correction from the congregration. I Corinthians 5:11: “But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler— not even to eat with such a one.” Except these people aren’t Christians, they’re anything but, in the values they support.

GVRO alert: under new Red Flag laws, anyone, not just a family member, can go to the po-po and declare, “He threatened me, he has guns, I’m sure he’s planning a mass murder AND I know for a fact he voted for Trump”. The po-po get a GVRO warrant and are on you like white on rice, without warning.

Exaggeration? Look up GVRO’s and check out the penalties for making false statements. Hint: there aren’t any.

If they don’t expound them, like send political fund raising emails disguised as heartfelt BS or rant about loving all homos, muslims and blacks or ban FOX from their home, then you wouldn’t know their views and it wouldn’t be a problem

Wish they’d make up their damned minds.

This is nothing new. I have been shunning dims, rinos, libs, lefties, progressives, socialists, communists, authoritarians, totalitarians and otherwise undesirables out of my life for at least 30 or maybe even 40 years. I want nothing to do with the pigs.

Also don’t shop in their stores. Make large marks on the windows in chalk to show that the shop is owned by a JUDE, I mean a Trumpist. And don’t let their children into your schools.

I’m blessed in not knowing such people at all.
Living in Western Washington too.
It may be that I simply don’t hang out in such situations, I leave.
