The John Birch Society vs. Article V Part II
ArticleVBlog ^ | June 18th 2018 | Rodney Dodsworth

Posted on 06/18/2018 1:17:05 AM PDT by Jacquerie

The logic that decades ago led the John Birch Society to condemn communism, big government and the welfare state mysteriously ends when it comes to the slow strangulation of liberty in post-17th Amendment America. Sad to say, but a soft relativism seeped into an organization known for stalwart defense of the republic.

[snip]

Relativism of a soft yet noticeable sort has, unfortunately, beset the patriots at the JBS. To the JBS, the material differences between the governing structure of the 21st century Constitution and the Framers’ 1787 Constitution are insignificant. Just enforce the Constitution we have.1

It is said the blind man is better off than a man who refuses to see. The absence of sight is less a handicap than the absence of reason, and reason informs us that the 17th Amendment (17A) upended the Framers’ compound federal republic. Our national experience since 1913 is more than enough evidence for thinking patriots to recognize the mistake and call for its repeal.

Thanks to the 17A, the United States is a democratic republic. Per James Madison, democratic republics invite the same tyranny as hereditary monarchies. The US is not above history. History will catch up. Democracy kills; we have too much of it now and will have more of it if the Progressive National Popular Vote movement knocks off the Electoral College.

The future of free government is in an awful way if one generation after another is taught that reason is incapable of discovering standards by which to determine whether one form of government is intrinsically superior to another. And make no mistake, the 17A fundamentally changed our governing form for the worse.

The relativist views the legal as just. Yes, the Progressive 17th Amendment is legal. But is it just?

One of the questions I remember (in 1964) as I was enlisting in the Air Force, was, “Are you a member of the John Birch Society?”.

I was 18, did not even know (or care) what the John Birch Society was, or was about.

It asked about other organizations, too, but the one I specifically remember is the JBS.

“...mature, apolitical oversight of executive branch agencies...”

Much to consider in this article. From 17th to Schumer and Pelosi. Thanks, Jacquerie.

“It wasn’t supposed to be this way.” BUMP!

...and this has exactly what to do with the Article V movement?

A movement going exactly nowhere fortunately for Constitution loving individuals who know the Constitution is not the problem to begin with, but let’s just open it up under the auspices of an Article V, and see what happens.

Sounds weird for an organization that promoted limited government. There had to have been major government disinformation that brought the JBS down.

The 17th Amendment is a symptom.

The 16th Amendment is the disease.

They’re not really down.
There does seem to be a lot of disinformation around though.

I don’t know why the government infiltrated the JBS, if they did. The JBS never did anything violent or illegal.

It was an ideological threat to expansive uniparty government.

Because the Birch Society was anti-government - at least anti-what the government was becoming. Remember: “The best place to meet an FBI agent is at a militia meeting.”

I received regular mailings from the JBS when I was stationed in Texas in the early 80s and I used to think it was nonsense. Now I look back on what the JBS was warning and almost all of it has come to fruition.

FDR/Fed. Reserver, are your root causes. Symptoms: anti-A1S8, SS, income tax, etc.

16th does not supersede the 4th/5th nor 13th. IMO, it is null/void via conflicts.

The John Birch Society is no d---- good. It was always anti-Israel (except for a while during the Begin years) but since the end of the Cold War has gone full-bore Liberty Lobby.

Their magazine has actually published an article attacking Netanyahu as a liar for exposing Iran. They are actually pro-Iran now! That's how much they have Israel Derangement Syndrome! But they would have been happy for every American to die for Rhodesia (a country founded by an "Insider").

The JBS was always anti-Israel, but now it's gone absolutely Ron Paul crazy. It should be avoided by all who fear Heaven and its publications should be on FR's "do not post" list.

Thanks PG. This one was a bit more difficult to put together than I anticipated. Nope, it wasn’t supposed to be this way.

The 16th is certainly an evil, progressive sibling to the 17th.

Militias make more sense to infiltrate because the have guns and can talk violence, but the JBS is peaceful and political. Nobody was ever killed by the JBS.

Besides the unconstitutionality of a direct tax on the American people. 1913 was a bad year in History.
