The Danger in Thinking Premier Ford is a Buffoon
Canada Free Press ^ | 07/30/18 | Arthur Weinreb

Premier Ford and his late brother Rob were Trump years before Trump was Trump

When campaigning for the leadership of the Ontario Progressive Party and then during the provincial election campaign, Ford spent a lot of time saying he was not Donald Trump. True, they are two different people. But politically speaking, the premier and his late brother Rob were Trump years before Trump was Trump.

Part of the problem with the left is it is not a question of disagreeing with politicians like Trump and Ford; they fail to understand them or their supporters. They are simply satisfied to call them names. The progressives laugh when these politicians promise to do something and then have a mental breakdown after they get elected and actually do it.

Don’t know what his brother’s politics were, all I know is he was quite a character

Rob Ford was one of a kind. His brother may be similar in some ways, but I doubt he will be very similar. His lack of decorum was at times so shocking, that no one knew how to react to it, so the public just watched. The flip side is he got things done, and reduced waste in the budget.

Rob Ford had some very serious addiction problems, and was very ‘handsy’ with the female staffers. That wouldn’t work today with this ‘prim and proper’ phase we are now temporarily going through.

In general pretty conservative. He had some good ideas on transportation which is a MASSIVE problem in Toronto.

I was “fortunate” enough to be working in Toronto when the while Ford thing broke. Man, was it fun. It was like watching a slow-motion train wreck in real time.

And when I got home each weekend I saw as much or more coverage in the local papers as in the Star.

Before I left I really tried to get a “Ford for re-election” button but was too far in the ‘burbs (Markham) where he didn’t really do much campaigning.

Trudeau gets away with it, because he's a liberal.
