MADISON, Miss. (AP) An aerospace company spun off from a larger conglomerate will make its headquarters in central Mississippi.
Vertex Aerospace announced Friday that it will invest $1.4 million and hire 70 front-office workers over the next two years at its Madison office. The company currently employs 340 there, and 856 more statewide.
Private equity firm American Industrial Partners of New York bought Vertex in July from L3 Technologies for $540 million....

Looking at their website, it looks like thermal shielding and controls for satellites. Looks like they are going to need a couple of large offices to hold the egos of the two guys they feature on a lot of their web pages. Doesn’t look like anyone else among the 1200 or so employees makes much contribution to the efforts.
Other sites indicate logistics, support, and repair. (Hail damaged planes, repairs on C-130s in Kuwait, etc.) Although maybe that kind of work got left with the parent when this subsidiary was spun off.
