Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)
Note to CBS: When you have to publicly declare that your network isn’t broken, your network is broken. – CBS entertainment division head Kelly Kahl led a press event on Sunday and, doing his best Baghadad Bob impression in the wake of the network’s latest major sex abuse scandal, declared there’s nothing to see here, all is well. No one believed him.
Yes, Councilman, the people of Santa Barbara do lack common sense. They elected you, after all. – Over at Powerline, Steven Heyward has a hilarious quick read about a member of the Santa Barbara city council (thus obviously a Democrat) who got caught with his rhetorical pants down a couple of weeks ago. Go read it – you’ll be glad you did.
If Chicago had a Republican mayor, CNN would move its entire operation there and report on nothing but all the killing going on. – As it is, with Democrat thug Rahm Emanuel firmly ensconced in the Mayor’s office, and the brain-dead voters of Chicago too dimwitted to vote him out, CNN can barely be bothered to even notice the fact that no fewer than 63 shootings took place in the Windy City over this past weekend. Thus far, at least 10 of the victims are dead. And nobody – literally nobody – in our fake national news media cares. Doesn’t fit the approved narrative, after all.
As if to emphasize the utter cluelessness and ineffectiveness of the city’s leadership, Superintendent Eddie Johnson attempted to deflect all the blame onto inanimate objects, because of course he did:
“I think some of our more challenging, communities, it’s just imperative that police and the community work together to reduce this gun violence. We just have too many guns on the streets of Chicago.”
Mind you, Chicago – like the other Democrat-led, extreme high crime cities in our country – has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation. The standard answer for any Democrat politician when faced with the abject failure of the policies he or she has favored is of course to simply double-down on more failure. So, don’t look at the gangs behind the curtain who commit all the violence, or the Democrat welfare state-created culture of broken families and dependency that made the gangs possible in the first place, look at this shiny object over here that you can’t even legally purchase in this city. That’s the problem.
Don’t kid yourselves otherwise: These politicians don’t really want to solve the problem, because so many of them are in fact on the take from the gangs committing almost all the killings. Chicago today is little different from the Chicago of the Prohibition era, with crime gangs having been allowed by ineffective policing to become an ingrained part of the local culture and ultimately owning so much of City Hall that they effectively become a major part of the city’s government.
The Chicago “swamp” is no different than the Swamp in Washington, DC: You have this embeded, incestuous culture of corruption that ensnares almost everyone that comes into contact with it and becomes a self-sustaining entity.
As I type this piece, there’s a Democrat state representative from Illinois named La Shawn Ford on my television, telling Fox News that Chicago is in a state of emergency, and urging President Trump to send in the National Guard to police some of the neighborhoods in the city. So at least one Democrat politician in Chicago actually gives a damn, which is nice to know.
But Mr. Ford is fighting a losing battle there, since Mayor Emanuel has declared his city to be a “Trump-free zone,” and will no doubt vehemently oppose accepting any help from the federal government that he can’t control. Because for corrupt politicians, control is everything. Just like the corrupt Chicago politicians of the 1920s, you can’t have the feds coming into your city and giving orders. You can’t just accept federal help because that help would inevitably lead to scrutiny from investigators and auditors and hey, it was the auditors, not Elliott Ness and his Untouchables, who finally managed to put Al Capone in the federal pen.
As of today, August 8, there have been 1,700 shootings in the City of Chicago in 2018. 1,700 Americans wounded or killed, most by the gangs who have become a de facto part of the corrupt city government.
Yes, the city’s in a state of emergency. Yes, the residents of these poverty-ridden neighborhoods where almost all of the shootings take place desperately need the help of the national government since their local government cares so little about them.
But it will be a cold day in hell before Chicago’s elected leaders allow that to happen. Don’t kid yourselves otherwise. With literally zero pressure from the national news media, they have no incentive at all to change.
Just another day in Democrats are destroying Chicago and nobody cares America.

Excellent article! Shame on the Chicago Democratic establishment. Chicago truly is a swamp that needs to be drained.
The democrats use the people in Chicago to get rich off their money, through taxes and contributions. The democrat politicians have no desire to see the people living better. This is just fine for them. The idea is to keep the people poor and miserable, and to promise them paradise just before election time. Then, after the election, to do nothing.
If the poor underclass stops being poor and stops thinking it’s oppressed, the money stops flowing to the democrats.
Chicago gangs and Chicago democrats. Hand and glove. They collaborate to keep hold on power.

How Many Mass Shootings?
Using the most liberal definition of “mass shooting” Chicago saw something just about unheard of in an allegedly First World country:
Five mass shootings, in which three or more people were shot, accounted for 25 of the shooting victims during the three-hour span.
Twenty-five people shot? In FIVE “mass shootings”? We hope that was the extent of the carnage.
Oh wait, no. It was sixty:
Dozens of people were wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday, police said.
One paramedic described the evening as “a war zone.”
Since midnight, police said 43 people have been shot, six fatally. Since Friday at 5 p.m., 60 people have been shot, nine fatally, in shootings in Chicago.
It was so bad, Rahm made his traveling circus of exempt crime fighters hold a press conference to re-assure everyone that they were on top of shit. Waller turned out to be the sacrificial lamb:
“I promise this city that we won’t be defeated,” Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Fred Waller said during a news conference held Sunday afternoon at police headquarters. “We won’t be overrun by that small element that’s committing these reckless acts.”
Waller said much of the violence is being traced back to gangs. [...] Waller said the uptick in violence cannot be attributed to police resources being diverted to the Lollapalooza music festival.
Officers working Lollapalooza were on their regular days off and received overtime pay, he said. “So they’re not people who would have been on the street anyway, so we’re not losing any resources to Lollapalooza,” Waller said.
How about we attribute it to de-policing? The “ACLU Effect”? ExamScam II and its detrimental effect on morale? Or the upcoming “consent decree” that was created without a single cops voice or opinion? There are four reasons right there.
So, where was Pfleger during all this? Livingston? Jesse? Tio? All these marches sure are driving down the crime numbers, right? A few other questions:
How many of these shootings were by Concealed Carriers?
....by people (or folks) with FOID cards?
....by NRA members?
How many were shot by the Chicago Police Department?
Or does that not fit the narratives being thrown around?

As big of a slime-ball as Rahm Emanuel is, I’m not sure there’s much he can do about this. I am sure that this shooting spree will simply be an excuse to call for mo money fo dem programs and more gun control, probably not in that order. Obama really didn’t organize the community very well, did he?

Upon entering my work I walked past the TV and saw the blurb:
“44 Shot, 5 dead”.
And I said wow, that’s a lot.
I wonder why that is. Not that Trump can do much about it aside from moving in the U.S. Army (which would be unconstitutional) but I wonder why he has gone silent. This is such an opportunity to smack down the "black lives matter" crowd and shame the Democrat leaders there to do something about it.
Obviously black lives don't matter in Chicago.
Sure there is. He can appoint a COMPETENT Chief of Police for starters and then he can let the Chicago Police actually do their jobs rather than entering into stupid binding agreements with the ACLU (among others) requiring the police to fill out lengthy forms every time they so much as LOOK at a black thug funny .......
I don't know why anyone would want to be a Chicago Cop. I really don't. They get blamed for everything when it's the stupid politicians like Rahm Emmanuel who put so many restrictions on them it's impossible to do their jobs in the first place.
They only matter when a white person shoots a black person. Black on black murder is A-OK in Chicago.

I don’t think competent policing would be allowed by the federal judiciary. After the Obama years, I don’t think what Rudy managed to do in New York is possible anymore. Still, I hope Rahm takes the fall for this.
Black Lives Matter must be very happy….no police visible in any of those pictures. So those shot up Chicago neighborhoods (44 casualties on Sunday) should be advertisements for how BLM want “communities of color” to be run.
