STURGIS, S.D. - On Hogs and Indians, they rumble in from all points on the compass and explode the population of Sturgis, South Dakota, from less than 7,000 to nearly half a million.
For one week each summer, they create a noisy pop-up city unlike any other and as the nation closes in on midterm elections, they lay bare America's political divides.
While the modern-day biker tribe is vast and varied, containing more middle-aged couples than brawling outlaws, one can go hours -- or days -- without seeing a person of color in the crowds here at one of the world's largest biker rallies.
In Sturgis, the definition of diversity is a white guy on a foreign bike.
The shooting ranges and bikini contests operate free from debate over gun control and #MeToo. And while other parts of the country agonize over his tumultuous presidency, the leader of this pack is Donald Trump....

Spread the rumor there that democrats say bikers eat shit.

All white guys are racists!
Any white guys who are around other white guys are DOUBLE racists!
Anyone who likes Donald Trump is worse than a racist!
Waaaahhhh! Waaaahhhh!
Hmmm. Days and miles without seeing people of color? Perhaps the intrepid urinalist should attend Black Bike week in Daytona Beach. Miles and days without white folks? And, if Sturgis ain’t diverse enough to meet the “standards”, how come aunt teefuh ain’t there protesting?
What a POS reporter that was. He believes his own made up fake news as facts. There is no help for these traitors.
Ha!
Ah, your typical one note journalist.
Everything is about color.
But then again, in modern “schools” of journalism, the standard is no standard, entrance requirements are diversity diversity......and 1000 down in the list at the very last is “talent”.
To summarize, journalists in a very large part are dumbasses.
They outlawed Bkack bike week in Myrtle Beach in 05 or 06...
Bikers vs. Antifa.
Battle of the century.
Or, should I say, slaughter of the century?
The author of this article is so full of hate.. that I really feel bad for him.
My step sister is like this. Absolutely everything out of her mouth is an insult - even to her husband and kid. She is made of pure evil.
The spite in their voices to those around them never ceases. I wanna pray for this guy because life is going to be the worst for such a person.
Look at EVERY sentence there. It’s all an underhanded insult to whatever the subject of the sentence is.
Peter Fonda goes to Sturgis every year. A friend of mine does as well, he said there are “wanted” posters at the Buffalo Chip for Peter Fonda. So far, my friend says no one has seen him at Sturgis. I was told he usually arrives with a big contingent of Hollywood suck ups.
He should take his sister Hanoi Jane along with him.
She is ever so popular amongst the veteran bikers.
So, CLEARLY the “reporter” has a problem with Americans gathering to exercise their freedom.
I can’t help but notice how the tough, brave Antifa slugs NEVER seem to come to an event like this...
Just sayin’...
the logistics of the people who live there must be a nightmare (and probably a great boon to their local economy)
Not really. Route 90 goes from one end of town to the other. Main street is 4 lanes wide all the way through town.
The street where most of the rally happens is 4 lanes wide.
Remember the prairie from Dances With Wolves? That's the Buffalo Chip campground, one of many, all vast. All of the tourist traps are out of town (Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Badlands, Wall Drug, Murdo Auto Museum, Iron Mountain Road, Deadwood, etc.
To the east is Rapid City with everything from nudie bars to dinosaur museums. On the whole, Sturgis is easy to get around, has plenty of camping and dozens of places to go and things to see in pretty much every direction. There's plenty of free bike parking too. It stands in stark contrast to the Daytona cluster &^%$ in March. Daytona is about drinking in large crowds. Sturgis is about riding the west and drinking by the campfire.
>Bikers vs. Antifa.
It starts in 5...4...3...
Never mind, it’s over.
