MORAINE, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) -- Fuyao Glass America is hiring and expanding.
The company said it currently has approximately 400 job openings as it plans expansion.
"My goal is to, by the end of the year, to build an additional warehouse so we can shift some half-finished goods to the warehouse and leave some space to add a production line," Fuyao Glass America President Jeff Liu said.
Liu provided a tour of the glass manufacturing plant to Congressman Mike Turner (R- District 10) and Illinois Congressman John Shimkus (R - District 15). He said the new warehouse could come with an immediate need of 200 new jobs. According to Liu, more work from Fuyao's plants in China is being shifted to the Moraine plant.
"They see that we've got a quality workforce, good cost of doing business, quality output and with that they're able to invest here," Rep. Turner said.
Fuyao Glass America currently employs more than 2,300 people and has invested nearly $1 billion into the Moraine plant.
Steve Staub of Staub Manufacturing and Tim O'Meara of GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing offered similar tours of their businesses before Monday's news conference at Fuyao.
"Tying it all together, all three of us are thriving in the industry and we don't see anything slowing down," Tim O'Meara of GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing said.
"This is making a plead to those who are unemployed or underemployed to start knocking on doors," Rep. Shimkus said. "All three of these businesses are looking for people who want to work."
It's not clear exactly where the new warehouse at Fuyao will be located, but FOX 45 will share any new developments as soon as we get them.
good news if the American-made auto glass is better than the Chinese crap, much of which is absolutely horrible, so full of ripples and other defects it’s like looking through clear coke bottles ...
