Poconopundit coined the nom de gurre for her: “Alexandria Occasional-Cortex” which I appreciate for two reasons...first, I cannot remember her real name (is it Occidentally-Cortez or “Accidentally-Cortez”...or what?) and secondly, it highlights the fact that her gray matter may not be in a processing mode for all things at all times!

Every few decades, socialism rears its ugly head, often with a new name like “Democratic Socialism” or whatever, and the new acolytes have never learned (or have willfully forgotten) the lessons of history, and it makes another push to get into the public sphere.
But it is still the same evil dressed up in new clothes.

From what I understand of this debilitating condition is that it is related to Trump Derangement Synonym. Trump Derangement Syndrome is a media driven disorder. If you stop feeding your brain on MSM the disorder will naturally subside and the brain will start to function somewhat reasonably... maybe even suggest to the patient that it’s time to leave the parent’s basement and get a job.
Cortex disorder is more complicated and has a history that predates media. Some think that it was imported from Europe to Latin America and others say it was a response to imperialist Conquistadors e.g., Cortez the Killer. It is also aligned with South American Liberation Theology. Many think it is the product of a virulent virus — like rabies — that make you want to bite the invisible hand of Capitalism. American universities are perhaps the ones most infected and students and profs will resort to a gibberish speech they call Post Modernism. Some students and profs think it is quite fashionable to talk in this irrational way before they march in mayhem destroying other people’s property. But there is no hope for the rabid universities unless they quarantine them and take a blow torch to disinfect by fire — the situation is that critical.
The idiocy of which you speak was written about in a 1922 essay by H. L. Mencken called Vox Populi.

Did you see the recent story that Trump is working on a bill that will get colleges and universities to document how much money their graduates make?
That will take a sizeable bit out of gender studies and other worthless humanities programs.
