Missing in action for 67 years, the remains of U.S. Army Corporal Terrell J. Fuller were returned to Toccoa, Georgia Thursday for the first time since the Korean War.
Fuller went missing in South Korea in February 1951 after supporting the Republic of Korea in a battle against the Chinese People's Volunteer Forces.
He was later presumed captured and killed in 1954.
His remains were held on the Korean peninsula until April 2018 when they were sent to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in Honolulu, Hawaii. Employees were able to confirm the remains were those of Cpl. Fuller.
Fuller's remains landed at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Thursday morning. From there, a processional with the Patriot Guard drove from the airport to Toccoa via Interstate 85 North to Hwy 365 North, then the Toccoa Bypass to Hwy 123 proceeding into Toccoa.
The public lined the route to Acree-Davis Funeral Home in Toccoa in Historic Downtown, Broad Street, Doyle Street and Pond Street.
The processional arrived in Toccoa about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
There is public visitation Friday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 4 pm. to 7 p.m.
Fuller will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Stephens Memorial Gardens on Saturday, which would have been Fuller's 88th birthday.

One was returned to my home town of DeFuniak Springs a few months ago. He was in the Army Air Force. The Germans had actually given him a proper funeral with a headstone but his family didn’t know.
The military put on an impressive funeral including a missing man formation from Eglin.
88 - 67 = 21 years young (perhaps younger). Too young.

Some of my best troops worked as Honor Guard over the years.....the duty changed them all to even better troops.
I am glad that Cpl. Fuller has returned home.
However, he returned to a land where journalists are unable to write a sentence that makes sense. Using "for the first time" in this sentence leads one to believe he will return additional times.
