WATCH: Liberal Bill Maher shocks with reaction to Alex Jones social media purge

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones found an unlikely ally in liberal comedian Bill Maher on Friday.

Maher defended Jones on his show, HBO’s “Real Time,” after Jones and his company, InfoWars, were essentially purged from social media. The bans came after CNN pressed social media companies to investigate whether Jones’ content violated their terms of service.

What did Maher say?

During a panel discussion, Maher defended Jones’ right to speak freely without recourse. Maher explained the protection of free speech is a fundamental value of liberalism.

“If you’re a liberal, you’re supposed to be for free speech. That’s free speech for the speech you hate. That’s what free speech means,” Maher said...

A small number of leftists actually believe this.

The vast majority are very happy with censoring anyone they disagree with.

Yeah, Bill Maher gets it right because in the vein of Pastor Niemoller I would say: “First they came for Alex Jones and I said nothing, because I didn’t agree with Alex Jones and thought he was a little crazy”.

Peter Hitchens has commented in one of his columns that the multinational corporations can in some cases be more powerful than “sovereign governments”.

The notion that this is just a private enterprise exercising its prerogative to ban things from its premises cannot apply to massive multinational superpower entities like the cyber conglomerates.

They are trying to control national governments though their power and influence already and speech bans are just an extension of that.

He’s talking about liberalism in the old sense of the word. Most of today’s liberals want just control, they want to control every aspect of your life including which light bulbs, toilets, and straws you can buy.

Most self-described liberals aren’t really liberals. They don’t know what the term means other than being anti-conservative.

What is shocking? Bill understands that if his Leftist cohorts can get away with banning Free Speech, he can be silenced if the Tide turns.

Of course it is interesting to think that the Left is doing this when they ARE NOT in Power. Imagine what happens when they regain Power.

The”left” has adopted as gospel so much of what is not true and embraced so many contrary beliefs that they find themselves going in circles and running headlong into one another over issues that they both believe in and abhor at the same time. It would be laughable if it wasn’t so dangerous to civilization as a whole.

Just by coincidence, of course, Qanon posted some stuff about him and underaged children this week as well.

AJ is controlled opposition. Even so, censorship is wrong.

So you listen to him all the time and know that firsthand?

I have listened to him.

I was watching him when he had his irrational meltdown of POTUS for the targeted bombing response to Syrian chemical attack. I have also listened to his shows with his “spook insider” Zack.

As a Q follower, my opinion was confirmed and I no longer watch him. Although, I abhor censorship and think it was wrong they shut him down and at the same time a little fishy. What channel owner broadcasts his channel being taken down at the same time he gives where you can find his program? Weird.

“Be careful who you follow.”

Exactly. The leftists of today are nothing but Stalinists. Obamacare was nothing more than a scam to introduce collectivism into the USA, give the government the ability to seize property and assets. They were going to raise the premiums through the roof at the same time raising the “fines” through the roof where after a while most of the country would be indebted to the government and that’s when Hillary was suppose to pull the rug out and start seizing property and assets to settle those “debts”. We’d have a system of collectivism, redistribution, the government would own all, control all.

What a maroon, he’s confusing liberal with libertarian. In general, both the left and the right want to (mostly) silence the other side. It’s the libertarians that believe in actual free speech.

“cannot apply to massive multinational superpower entities like the cyber conglomerates.”

Are you referring to Facebook?

If so, that’s funny.

We might be able to have a quasi-functional country with an opposition party of Bill Mahers, but he might as well be Barry Goldwater as far left as they’ve gone.
