covered by Medicare and TriCare for LifeI believe Tricare is for only fully retired sailors; I'm one of them. I don't think McCain served long enough to retire.
The Congressional plan is, as you quote, very generous. Besides, he was wealthy.

His wealth is beside the point. Congress has a “Rolls-Royce” level medical plan that costs them absolutely nothing. If he would have needed million dollar surgery they wouldn’t have batted an eye.

FYI - McCain, as a retired Naval Officer - was eligible for Tri-Care for life....
As a sitting Senator - he was eligible to participate the the Federal Employment Health Benefit Program (FEHB) - and sign up for one of a wide variety of plans that were available to government workers in the D.C. area.
