Hey Trudeau- Make the NAFTA deal now!
Canada Free Press ^ | 08/29/18 | Mitch Wolfe

Posted on 08/29/2018 11:31:53 AM PDT by Sean_Anthony

If Trudeau does not capitulate and do a deal with Trump this week, Trudeau will engineer a made-in-Canada recession which will adversely affect thousands of Canadian families

Trump is not the bully here. Stop blaming Trump for being Trump and standing up for America’s interests. That is what American presidents do. The problem lies once again with Trudeau’s arrogance and incompetence. The delay in Canada reaching a NAFTA deal with the U.S. and the foreseeable imposition of U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada is all Trudeau’s fault. Trudeau could have avoided this situation months ago

Our best loss (and smallest loss) on the NAFTA negotiations was our first loss. Months ago Trudeau should have taken a hit on NAFTA but agreed to a NAFTA skinny deal giving Trump the victory over some minor matters. But Trudeau wasted valuable months talking about and promoting gender, climate change and aboriginal matters. These matters were quite irrelevant issues to the core issues at play.

Based on news I’m reading on the Net Trudeau is not budging on
the 300% tariffs on American dairy products.
Trump is about to teach this “Brow Boy” a lesson on trade.
Trudeau’s stupidity is about to cost Canada a 100,000 or more
jobs.
The “Brow Boy” is way over his head.

Trudeau is probably like Obama, talks a good talk but has no clue how to actually do anything.

Doesn’t matter. When I was still in Vancouver, the traffic to the border just to gas up and “buy eggs” grew every year. It always has been cheaper to cross the border and buy stuff. I am 99% sure, Turdeau will sell out the dairy farmers in CDA. 300% tariffs is stupid. ex PM Harper who I worked for in 2005 before I moved here, would have easily removed it for the sake of business but what we have here is a spiteful, anti American p*ssy.

Not usually, but I can certainly get used to it. This is probably the biggest compliment President Trump has gotten in the foreign press.

I am not sure if Trudeau can make a deal.

Canada is in a financial mess and they are about to enter into a trade war with their largest trading partner. A trade war they can not win.

America is bigger and stronger and our economy is growing.

Canada is stagnant. The socialist have taken over building oil pipelines from the oil fields to the oceans (and into the US) but because they are leftest they gave veto power to local communities which means the pipelines will not be built. All the oil in the world is worthless if you can not get it to market.

Canadian Healthcare is a money pit. “Free medical” is not free and the total cost has been rising every year and is projected to be over 100% of their GNP in just a few years.

Military - what military?

Socialism is eating Canada. And like all good socialist Trudeau would rather be “pure” then do the right thing.

We don’t even want to know what the results will be with the hundreds of thousands of muslims that were invited into the country.

Will Canada be able to free herself from her Socialist masters? We will just have to wait and see.

The tariff of on dairy goes back to how Canada subsidizes it’s dairy farmers. Instead of price fixing, they subsidize farmers not to produce, artificially driving up the price through insufficient supply. That doesn’t work if US dairy products came in without a tariff.

Justin Trudeau is Fidel Castro's bastard son*, and true to his roots does not understand free market economics. Trump will show Canada the error of its ways in electing a "cool kid" to do a man's job. So much winning...

*It's true. Margaret Trudeau bore Fidel Castro's son.

I heard something today I thought was genius. If true, as part of the revised NAFTA with Mexico, the Mexican government will pay the U.S. to build a border wall....

The wall along Mexico’s southern border with Guatamala and Belize. This would keep many Central and South Americans from trying to get to the U.S. through the southern Mexican border and create jobs as well.

Once done, maybe then they can turn attention to the U.S. border.

The past four didn't. They were all globalists.

Thanks for your very informative post. I had no idea why tariff’s on American dairy products were so high. Now I know.

“If Trudeau does not capitulate and do a deal with Trump this week”

I think the Canadians should be given as much time as they would like.

“Haste does make waste” is an old American saying.

If it is a good deal, they’ll take it after review.

Personally, I have my doubts locking into legally binding “deals” that run for years. I think trade deals should be informal, since informal deals actually have to be good for all the nations involved.

The US motor vehicle trade deficit with Mexico is about $70 billion/year.

What will it be after this deal?

Why not make meeting (or coming within $5 billion of) the goal part of the deal?

“That doesn’t work if US dairy products came in without a tariff.”

Perhaps milk could be protected by Canada, but heavily processed dairy such as cheese, ice cream, cream could be free trade items?

That would be meeting Canada at a halfway point.

Certain amounts of manufacturing need to be done on U.S. soil for North American security requirements. It’s either that for a stronger posture or a greater risk of being nuked in the near future.
