The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring for Guam jobs, in part to ease long wait times for arriving international travelers at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport.

The hiring of five additional CBP officers was announced on Guam during a meeting between local leaders and CBP Director of Field Operations in San Francisco Brian Humphrey, CBP Area Port Director in Honolulu Bruce Murley and CBP Port Director in Guam Gerald Aevermann, CBP announced Wednesday.

The addition of these positions will assist CBP in the processing of travelers to Guam, CBP stated in a news release.

"CBP officers have exciting careers enforcing laws that protect the United States. Joining our ranks could mark the beginning of a well-paid, meaningful and rewarding career in federal law enforcement and an opportunity to make a positive impact in our local communities," Humphrey said.

CBP employees protect the nation's borders from terrorism, human and drug smuggling, illegal migration and agricultural pests, while simultaneously facilitating the flow of legitimate travel and trade, CBP stated.

Local officials have asked for more CBP staff to speed up long arrival lines for international travelers.
